Hello
I have recently purchased a new Venture TF and was wondering if anyone has any pros and cons about the unit.
I use to sled as a youngster and only heard good things about Yamaha sleds growing up . I am not a youngster any more and figured a Yamaha 4 stroke would probably be a good one.

How would you describe the trails that you ride on? Does the Goderich area (WNW of Toronto) have a trail system or do you have to trailer?

I don't know about the trails yet, I have never been on any trails yet but I heard that they are really good. I am in district 9 of the OFSC trails here in Ontario, a lot of people that I talk to say that there is a lot of nice trails in my area. Like I said I haven't snowmobiled since I was a youngster. Lol

Well all I can say (I've never owned a Venture) is that you bought one of the most reliable sleds on the market. I'm sure that given time, others will chime in with their suggestions as there have been many over the years on your sled.
In the meantime, let the search feature be your friend. Search for things like "Venture handling" or the like. You'll find plenty of threads on this subject.
Enjoy the new ride!!!! If I can ever help you with anything mechanical, please feel free to PM me. Posting here will also get many replies!

welcome to the site.
everyone sets theirs up to suit themselves. what generally works best is to make sure the front a-arms are parallel to the floor. next is to put the rear torsion springs on soft for solo riding. i then set the front skid shock spring in the rear skid to it is snug to turn by hand with the rear of the sled suspended. last thing is to check that the skis are toed out 1/8" as some dealers do not check this and it makes the sled dart. other than that, ride it and see what you want to make it do better. i started with my brothers 2013 rs venture gt set this way and it is still set this way as he likes how it handles but we do use apex mtx skis over the stockers for our local trail conditions.

I have a 2013 that I bought before last season (had 1,300 miles on it). Great trail cruiser and cross country sled, no problem doing 2-250 miles/day if you're so inclined. Having the moveable backrest is great when I'm alone and my wife really enjoys having it when she goes along. I loosened the pressure on the front spring in the skid (rear sled on a jack stand), almost to the point where the spring could rattle, tracks and handles much better after doing that.

Welcome, all I can say is you made the right choice. I'v e got a 05 Venture RS with 13,000 km. I keep it maintain on a regular basis and it runs like a dream. I do a lot of riding in district 5 just south of you, and you will be amazed at the trail network here in Ontario. I've left here in Arkona and sled all the way to Tobermory and back and my wife and I always do a trip to Huntsville every Feb. and ride the trails there. You will not be disappointed! Maybe we'll meet on the trail . Pete

Here is the current part number out of the 2017 Yamaha Accessories book. It's similar to mine: SMA-8HFRR-RA-CK. I did a google search and found dealers that carry them.

Cliffy: District 9 is where I ride 90% of the time and you will find the trails system to be stellar. Lots of places to access fuel and food, clubhouses and warming shacks etc. This area gets the benefit of serious Lake Effect Snow dumps, which keeps the trails in great condition when others are skimpy. District 5 which is south of D9 can be sketchy depending on the snow year we have, in 2013-2014 this entire area was mint. Get trail maps from both districts, trails are well signed so hard to go wrong. Local clubs in this area are fanatical about maintaining trails, you will be impressed.
Have fun!
