Now why would i want to get rid of a sled i just paid a premium price for? You're either going to have to learn to live with the track howl or get rid of the sled.
I Really like the RS and now i have two of em.. 05RS and 17 TF..but that vibration on the 151" at 50klm...shouldn't have to "live" with it -if its a common problem on ALL the TF 151" track models and Yamaha is aware of it. Sounds like a design flaw that's just being blown off or ignored.
If this was a car or truck that had a specific noise /vibration ..it would have been fixed or recalled by now. (let alone a Yamaha Motorcycle..)
That why they have engineers for this shite.
And its not just a howl.. some long tracks make noise/howl at speed .....This is a nasty loud vibration and at low speed..just at trail speed for some.
If you & i were riding and we decide to switch up sleds (cause that's what we do), the first bloody thing you'd notice is that Vibration and you'd want your Vector back. I know cause i loved my Vector... and its ski wheels..

Sir, having dealt with the track howl since 2005 and listening to others complain about it the best option honestly is if you don't like it, get rid of the sled. I myself have tried numerous things to reduce the howl to no avail. I have tried different tracks and different rear suspensions but the howl Remains the Same. I've concluded along with others that there's a resonance issue between the engine, the frame and tunnel itself, and the track. It's a perfect storm of conditions leading to the hall. The fact that are tunnels are actually open to accommodate the rear exhaust is also not helping things.
I understand if you don't like what I had to say but it's the truth. In years past people have complained of the same thing and they got rid of the sled and they were happy that they did it. Don't shoot the messenger.

Hello! Your posts on the 2016 Venture have been very helpful as we recently purchased that same sled. I would like to stud the track for safety reasons (ice) and am finding varied responses studding this model due to the heat exchanger at the back of the tunnel inside the flap. The plan would be to install tunnel protectors along with 120 studs. Prior to drilling, input from others is requested.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Shaun. I also just recently purchased the 16 RS Venture TF. After a lot of shopping around, I purchased the Yamaha stock tunnel protectors (pricy) and put Woody's on it, all of which were recommended by the dealer. Woody's website had the stud layout and number of studs needed depending on the type of riding that you do. Worth a look for sure. I would also recommend changing out the carbides if you stud the track. The dealer recommended this as well and i thought he was just trying to upsell...so i passed. One ride later and having trouble steering, especially on ice, i put Woodys 8" on the outside and 6" on the inside. Helped dramatically with the steering issue. Just put 300 miles on last weekend. The only issue I've noticed is how "top heavy" and "tippy" the sled is while cornering. Hoping there is some adjustments that can be made to the suspension. Any input would be appreciated.Hello! brothers venture has the top heavy all the time. the only thing that helped with it was actually less agressive on the carbides. did not try a 13mm sway bar yet but that could help too.

I’m hoping that by changing the rear setting to “soft” and making some front shock adjustments it will help a little. I was just surprised how much lean was required to keep the skis on the ground. Was not expecting that with a 2 up touring sled.brothers venture has the top heavy all the time. the only thing that helped with it was actually less agressive on the carbides. did not try a 13mm sway bar yet but that could help too.

I’ve also read some comments about adjusting the limiter straps but have yet to make any adjustments. May just take it to the dealer and have them take a look. When I explained the issue over the phone they were surprised and said they use those as rentals because they are a stable and easy riding sled. Not my first or even second experience at this point. Looking for any advice.I’m hoping that by changing the rear setting to “soft” and making some front shock adjustments it will help a little. brothers is set on full soft on rear including clicker on shock. front skid shock is set so that with rear of sled suspended, the spring is stiff to rotate on the shock. front a arms are set to be parallel to the ground and the toe is set correctly. with his stock skis it pushed horribly in the corners. we put on 09 mtx skis with 6" carbides and the shim mod from the tec pages. and it rails through the corners now and floats better when off trail. that is when we noticed the top heay on the sled. we did try it with a set of gytr clicker shocks on the front, no difference, and with a set of curve xs skis i have. with the curves it would push more in the corners but the top heavy feeling is less. when driven normally it is fine. when driving agressive or hard, it shows the top heavy. went back to the mtx skis on it and he has rode it that way since.
