just got a warranty print out from my selling dealer that says my 2016 Viper (non turbo) has a recall #990109
Which says connecting rod replacement.
I didn't know they were doing non turbo engines
Comments?

Right on! I sure hope its true. This will go a long way with many. Seems to be working out on the Turbo side so maybe they are doing the right thing.just got a warranty print out from my selling dealer that says my 2016 Viper (non turbo) has a recall #990109

I got a letter but it said MPI dealer turbo install only. Can you take a pic of letter!! This would be great news if true.

It wasn't a letter, it is a warranty status report, and the copy I have isn't the complete report. It does show the bulletin # 990109 and describes it as Connecting Rod Replacement and the status says "not completed"
Has anyone seen this bulletin number before? I'll check with dealer tomorrow to see what service manage knows about this.

Are you familiar with the bulletin # 990109?

Just the Turbo bulletin. I will check the number. I cannot find anything other than the Turbos on YDS. Not looking good but its been rolling releases for everything so there is still hope. Are you familiar with the bulletin # 990109?

S2017-001R is the only thing I see for Turbo Rod replacement. First page of the other thread. It is a Safety recall so maybe that is a number for some other thing like the Govt. Will give this a few days and see if its true if not will Dog Pile it. My fingers are crossed.

I really hope this is true!!!! My buddy with his 16 is pretty disappointed right now that he can't turbo his without ripping engine apart!!!
My fingers are crossed for all you guys with 16's
This would bring back the confidence lost by many with Yamaha and will probably get many of there costumers lost from this mess

I hate to be the naysayer here, but in my opinion theres no way yamaha is replacing rods on not turbo sleds.
The original bulletin was written in such a way as to put all the blame on mpi with an overboost situation, without actually blaming mpi.
Mpi even went as far as posting something to disregard yamahas claims.
Simply put, yamaha is only doing the bare bones minimum to resolve this problem and they are doing at the dealers expense.
Its a giant turd anyway you look at it.
I wish you all the best but i am telling you to prepare for the worst.

I have asked 2 local dealers to look into it. Neither has seen or heard anything but will wait to call it till I hear of thier inquiries.

I got the notice a while back but it was the notice for turbo engines only. Sure would be nice to have the rods replaced. But ya know what, I don't care if they don't...because I don't have $4k for a turbo and my sled does 100mph...fast enough for me and I hardly use all of the power anyways..
