Bought a 2017 Viper 3 weeks ago and have 1000 miles on it. Noticed over the last 300 miles or so that when I come to a stop sign I get a little pop and sometimes its a straight back fire. It only seems to happen if Im coming off a straight away and running at 70 to 85mph. Exhaust is not any louder. Could the donuts be going already or nature of the beast ? Thanks for any input.

Me and a buddy both have 16's that do the same thing. Would worry about it. My guess is either a little fuel or carbon built up in the exhaust burning off after a long straight pull

No donuts in that system to worry about, there's a flange gasket that's easily visible. Can't see that wearing out. This motor does a lot of odd things, definitely not as good running as in the Nytro 4years ago..Bought a 2017 Viper 3 weeks ago and have 1000 miles on it. That happened to me at the end of the year last year. I have mine turbo'ed and thought maybe it was messing up. Turns out my exhaust header was junk. The exhaust header is made from two halves that are welded together. The seam was completely split. Got a new header (under warranty) and the back fire/popping went away. Make sure you get a new gasket if you are going to replace the header.

Mine does exactly the same thing. Dealer could not replicate. Going back at season end to leave it with them to try and figure out the issue.Bought a 2017 Viper 3 weeks ago and have 1000 miles on it. I had my MPI turbo backfire on me a few times (maybe 2 or 3 times total) this season. I checked out my header pipe for cracks and everything was fine. Mine backfired on really cold days just after a long high speed pull when I would just cut the throttle and slow down. I found an older post from Matt @ MPI. He essentially noted that this can sometimes happen when cutting the throttle after a long pull. I think he said that it happens because cutting the throttle quickly will have the ECU cut back on the ignition sent to the plugs before the injectors stop feeding fuel. Therefore unspent gas ends up in the exhaust system. ... then ... bang.

Was told mine could be throttle related as well. The torrs is very sensitive in the cat I guess. Haven't been able to work on mine yet.
