22 sidewinder low voltage

I've got a 22 SRX and the volt meter on the dash shows the battery being 1 volt lower than it actually is at rest. Is this normal? If not what could it possibly be?

Yes, when you key the Winder on, the voltage is always going to be quite low compared to what you read on the meter at the battery at rest, by a lot!
