Have done some research on 321 stainless .145 wall. Long story short I have only found a place to buy in large quanity for the pipe. They also have the same size weld elbows as well.

Wondering if there is any interest in buying this material for anyone else.

Not sure right now what we are talking for price. Right now it is about $22/ft. I would need to figure in shipping, tax and etc.

Just checking interest. As i only need about 3 ft. And would sell the rest.

Check McMaster Cars website. They have stainless tubing there, and usually fittings of all types Plus sell in smaller quantities/lengths. That way you won't have to buy a 20' length FYI

321

I ended up buying a 3ft peice and a 90 elbow from black river stainless in florida. It cost me an arm and a leg. But then I didn't have to worry about selling the extra.

Now we know why headers made of 321 is kinda prizey LOL thanks for the info.

actually

If I was to buy a 20 ft piece it would have been about $22/ft. But I only needed a small amount so I paid about double. No doubt it is still spendy at $22/ft. I paid $45 for only 90 degree weld elbow. Either way still only $240 worth of materials.

Because you have so much invested make sure you purge weld the header, you wouldn't want to waste any material.

Purge weld

yep, It will be purge welded for sure by a professional welder. No problem on that end. You will see when it is done that the welding if top notch. Thanks for the reminder though.

I'm thinking R&D cost into the mix. There got to be quite a few ft of 321 waisted before all tube parts are formed into perfection before the production run can start. Or the prototypes may be made of cheap iron tubes for the proto.... I really don't know LOL

dirk_03 - great work, is the header built from scratch or do you copy an existing header?

I'm looking forward to see the end product done :-)

Soon

haha I am looking forward to the end product to. I am sick as a dog right now though. Hopefully Not the piggy flu! Haven't felt this crappy in a while.
