I have 4100 miles on the factory belt on my 09 nytro rtx. The belt has been on the sled since I bought it new. Should I change it with new or keep going?

Thanks

2500 miles is max I would run on them. You are asking for a mess when it blows.

Put a new Yamaha belt on. Keep this one for a backup

Clean the clutches and add a new belt. You will be very happy with the difference.

Thought I'd take a few pics of the 4100 mile belt

If yous noticed, I put a wind plate on the Secondary. Turk said something to me a while back that this will cause a lot more heat in the belt.

I thought I would give it a try since I only ride groomed trails.

Hern... love the pic! Honey, I am just doing the dishes... : )

In my opinion, if its not good enough to run it, throw it in the garbage. Why drag around a wore out belt to use as a spare that may not get you home? Thankfully, the one thing that Yamaha does not jab us too hard is the price of their belts. Compared to others, anyway.

I'll hang them up in garage. But your right. I just bought a new OEM belt for $55 shipped. I think skidoos is much more expensive.

Honestly, I dont off trail at all. It' strictly groomed trails for me and clutches always are cool to the touch.

Can I continue to run the windage plates?

I got 4500 miles out of the factory belt so something is running good.

The users manual is quite specific on how to test if your belt is still serviceable based on how it sits between the sheaves. On groomed trails only and the touch to keep from burning up the sides of your belt you might be fine with the miles you are getting. For most, not possible as they may have a hard (and numb) right thumb! Great job...

I replace the belt every year. 2-3k miles. New belt washed in dishwasher then installed
