I now have 4300 miles on my Apex. I have the original plugs belt and hyfax and I'm not changing them anytime soon. The hyfax wore down to a point and haven't worn anymore the last 2500 miles. I've never had problems with my wheels or anything else. My updated bars work awesome and even in very low temps get plenty hot. I have 144 studs and slp wearpads in my track. The engine always runs perfect and I've started it with no problem at 30 below zero. I have Pilot ski's on my sled and they don't dart at all and feel like I have power steering, I would highly recomend these ski's for all Yamaha's. This sled has been flawless and I bought it for Yamaha reliability and the fact that I want to ride not wrench on my sleds. This sled has met all my expectations and more. :jump:
P.S. Even though I love the sound of this sled, between the track noise and engine harmonics it can wear on you during 200 mile rides.

jds,

Nice report. I agree with you on the track noise and engine harmonics. I can overlook these things because the reliability is just awesome. I've been thinking about the Pilot skis for quite some time. I hear they make a huge difference. Have you changed the sway bar in the front?

where did you get the pilot skis im also thinking of pilots for my attak i have fox floats coming for it already i would like to put skis on the same time

You can buy them at any Ski Doo dealer. They are very easy to install and are a great addition to the Apex sleds.

saw, i put the 13mm sway bar on and i would highly recommend it. welterracer would be proud of me.

Black 700...LOL.. thats funny..

JDS1000... its now time to replace all of your front and rear suspension bushings.. I guarentee they are SHOT!!..

black700,

I ordered one from Bruce on Thursday. He won't have any until later this coming week so I will just have to wait. I hope it helps like everyone says it does. I'm not sure I understand the joke between you and welterracer.

Hit 4100 miles yesterday, changed all small dia. wheels at approx 300 miles, changed slides at 2200 miles, changed track at 3200 miles. Drive shaft bearing (pto side) was ugly at 3200 but hadn't failed (changed). Inspected rear susp. bushings during track change, looked good, however I may be missing something, specifically which bushings please? I will change front end bushings over summer, but when I grab my A-Arms (upper or lower) and firmly attempt to shake, there is no play, is there a better way to test for worn bushings? I do get a periodic front end squeek when slowing for the big whoops, somethings dry or worn.

Thanks,

gng

There are 24 bushings in that front end.. They have to be shot.. they dont last.. Make sure you allow the front end to hang down when you check them.. (jack the sled up from the center to allow the arms to hang freely)

there are also atleast 6 bushing in those arms of the rear suspension..

I think I'm okay on the rear skid, but the front end will be in question. 24? Hope they're reasonable $. I can't bitch, this sled has cost me way, way less than any other I have owned .... in terms of maintenance/repairs.

You can get most of the bushings in a kit from pioneerperformance.. the rest will have to come from the dealer.. around $125 for all of them
