Does anyone have good experience with a particular brand of either the 4th wheel kit or marginal snow wheel kit?

There seem to be quite a few manufacturers of these items.

I made my own 4th wheel kit using a OE wheel and the instrucitons in the TECH section to cut the stock spacer..

Cheap and works great..

Same here, easy to do...

I put a set on mine... Really stopped the wear.. I'll try and find a photo..MM.Not sure if it shows up on this picture.. If it does they will be 4" in front of the rear wheels..

That is a Vector pictured and they do go in the rear on the Vector, On the Apex you need to put the Marginal snow wheel's on the curve (front) of the rail just behind the rubber bumper's. And they do work very well. kviper

On the apex's, the slider does not seem to wear at the curve on the front of the slide rail.

I agree, all the wear on my Apex ER is at the rear of the rails

Trust me the heat start's to build at the cueve on the Apex and the steel clip's start to melt plastic twords the rear of the skid. The Vector has a flater aproach angel and does not heat at the curve, It heat's on the big gap near the rear and melt's plastic as the clip's come back around the curve but the curve is the problem on the Apex and the big gap near the rear on the Vector is the problem. I had a Vector and now have an Apex and had the marginal snow wheel's on both and it solved the wear problem. kviper

a wheel kit at the front solved a wear problem on the rear?

anyone chime in please on an attak I thought the wheel kit goes on the rear in front of the axle?

I will try it one more time. The steel clip's in the track get hot and melt the slid's where ever they come in contact, So where you see the melting may or may not be the cause. I have an Apex GT and not an Attack. It would be my guess that the Attack may need two set's of wheel's but the front approach angel is probably the same so i would think the front curve would need a set for sure and maybe another set in the rear if there is a big gap with out wheel's. The Vector has a big gap in the rear with out wheel's and the approach angle is flater than the Mono skid's, that is why the Vector does not need a set at the curve of the rail. Extreme condition's may require even more wheel's in any case. I also agree that the slide wear slow's way down as you get close to the wear line because the load gradualy get's transfered to the wheel's as the slide's wear down and have also had more heat treating cycles. Some of this info has been passed on to me direct from Yamaha. All i can say is it work's for me. Good luck. kviper

I should point out that the Vector pictured has the Pro-Active skid. The Vector's with the Mono skid's need the wheel's in the same place as the Apex.
