just looked under my new RTX.....is it required to put a 4th wheel kit while studding the track? And is the kit from the Yamaha web site thats fits 05-06 all models good for the 07 ?

not really needed but yes it will fit 07 also.or you can make your own by cutting down your stock spacer and just buy a extra idler wheel.thats all the kit really is.

Not required but I would HIGHLY recommend. Here's why:

Last year on my Viper half way between home & nowhere - I lost one of my outside big rear wheels. I was very lucky that it happened to be on the same side as the "3rd wheel" and was able to drive 20 miles at 25 mph back to a town and a new wheel. If I had lost the other outside rear wheel I would have been screwed. Now I put the 4th wheel in any sled I own; for $40 it's cheap insurance...

Yamaha dropped it to save weight. All be HP sleds should ahve 4 wheels in the back

I do not know of ANY Yamaha that had a 4th wheel from the factory... not any of the Phazers, Vmaxs, XTC's, Vipers, Ventures, RX-1s, etc. Maybe the SRX?...

My 00 SXr had four wheels in the back.

My buddies old XCR 600 went 200 miles back to the trailer no problem with an outside wheel missing. Thank god for the fourth wheel.

I cant think of a modern Yam that had it either,

If you are studded it is a good idea!

If not and you corner agressively you will notice black powder on the sides of your hyfas. That is from the track moving and the lugs rubbing on the sides. 4th wheel holds it in place better, keeps the lugs from wearing.

I recently installed a homemade 4th wheel kit using the GREAT info i got on this site..

I did it for the same reasons above.. If you loose your right side outer wheel, you will be stranded.. All it would take is one good whack by a tree when cornering hard..

All of the 98-02 SRX's had 4 wheels and I know the 00 SX-R did also.

Anyone want to buy rear wheels? I have 3 or 4 from 2002 when the bearing was still replacable. They have about 400 miles of powder riding on them. Eric

Thanks.....I figured they left it off for the weight issue....4th wheel is definitely going on.....I have an 01 SRX skid in the shed with 4 wheels on it.....I'll come up with something

my 01 sxr500 had 4 from factory. bro stole the kit i bought and put it on his viper. guess im gonna have to buy another one.
