just wondering as i just installed the kit on my 06'apex and i also replaced the center wheel bearing and got the 2 new outside wheels w/ the replacable bearings. when i go to put the outside wheel on(the nut side) i notice the bearing isn't all the way on the shaft? i thought it should be all the way on so it would have a steady pressure equaly across the bearing. now the only thing i saw wrong is that my shaft has a slight bend(which i have 80% straighten out)on the bolt side where it went thru the adjuster. also didn't realize that both adjusters are angled out toward the ouside wheels. just wondering if i'm missing something or should i just get a new rear shaft? thanks

I was just looking at my skid last night before I took it to my cousins to beef up and I noticed the same thing (that the tensioners were pointed outward) when unbolting all the wheels from it... I think that might be normal if we are both seeing it? My axle appeared to be straight at least I remember it rolling off the table...

Not sure about the shaft/wheel thing but yes the tensioners are made to angle outward for better access thru the track windows

the big concern is the way the wheel bearing sits on the shaft.

Are the bearings 6004? Or the wider 6204? That could be the reason for coming up short.
It also could mean one of the spacer washers is not in the correct spot or jamming something up.
If everything seems to be okay, then tighten up the bolt and see if that cinches it back up.

NORMAL...mine is the same on the nut side.

grim its the regular 6004 bearing i replaced, and the new whels are the red ones from yamaha. thanks for the news guys.

are you guys putting washers on the nut side of gthe bearing to take up the space where the bearing doesn't fit all the way onthe mount shoulder? i bought the aftermarket kimpex wheels i saw a link another post and see i have the same issue w/ those not fitting on the mount shoulder as well and was wondering if putting a washer inside the space on the bearing and then putting the big washer onthe outside if it would be stronger? i see i have to go get some longer bolts as well. thanks again.

Now it sounds as though you're talking about the idler wheels and mounts, not your rear axle 4th wheel kit.

The bearing does not go all the way on the shaft. There should be a slight underlap (about 2-3mm). This insures that the nut tightens on the race and thus tightens the entire shaft. With that, make sure that the washers are in the correct locations. There should be a washer on each side of the rail, and the adjusters face outboard. Hope this helps

yea i hi jacked my own thread lol. i was refering to the idler wheels when i was asking. i ended up getting bigger bolt and putting the new wheels on w/ a washer from the underlap as refered to but it stl has enough area where the nut can sink in if need be when i tighten it. yes the washers where in the correct places. so i have left the inner stock wheels on as i don't know if i can get the mounts milled down. it looks like it needs to go down about 3 mm's. i do beleave i read somewhere 1.5 mm though. thanks again.
