A couple weeks ago I picked up a 2017 RTX with 35 miles. Last weekend I completed the break in and now I'm doing the engine and chain case oil.
I got the oil drained, filter came off with the gasket. I drained from both holes. With the filter there is a copper washer and a rubber o ring, where does the o ring go? When I pulled the bottom plug near the filter there wasn't one on there and it doesn't seem to fit the plug.
I was dreading the exhaust bolts but I got them off fairly easy. Should I replace them with a head bolt or just put them back with anti seize? I used a torque on a socket for the four easy ones and then used the shorther torque with a 10m crescent wrench and a cheater bar to get the bad angled ones.
Tomorrow will be the chaincase oil. Should I use an extractor to remove the oil or just crack the bottom of the case and let it drain before pulling the case apart. I'm really worried about the tensioner. How much of a pain is it to remove it so I can take it to someone to be tack welded? I'm afraid I'm going to get it off and won't be able to get it back together.
Sorry for being long winded but I want to get this right, this sled makes me nervous.

Rubber O-ring goes on the drain plug of the oil tank which needs to be drained as well.
I would remove chaincase to change fluid and inspect / weld tensioner, it's not that difficult. Check out Rockerdan's build thread he has a good how-to, the thrust washer is something to pay attention to so it doesn't get misplaced.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to inspect the chaincase. How are people draining it? Using an extractor or cracking the case a little and letting it drain out? Seems like it could be messy.Rubber O-ring goes on the drain plug of the oil tank which needs to be drained as well.

Check out my build thread, lots there for you to read up on.(link in Sig below)
Crack chaincase for sure, open it up and IMO tack weld the tensioner roller screws.
If you do the 'rivnut mod' you will enjoy easy oil changes going forward.

Thanks Dan! I've been watching your videos and your posts. Your recent one has be really nervous about the tensioner. I'll crack it open tonight. I'll probably be hitting you up. This is my first turbo anything so I'm trying to absorb as much as I can.Check out my build thread, lots there for you to read up on.(link in Sig below)
