I have a lot of wind on my Apex since I have low windshield. I am tired of heated visor helmet with the visor now broken and lack of sunglass like tint. I am going to go with 509 evolution helmet and sinister goggles. Good choice or bad? I do distance high speed trail riding we do 300-400 kms a day ride 8 hours about. Is this setup going to be warm enough and not fog? Any feedback?

I have a wind river headsock warmest I've ever had don't think it will be an issue but I will keep the klim in mind.

I bought that set last year and used it once as I didn't like it at all, I do mostly long runs as well. I have two fellow riders that love it so you really won't know until you try it. The helmet is lightweight and comfortable but trying to make the goggles seal tight and trying to talk to other at a stop may be difficult. I used the helmet now as an ATV helmet ant its perfect.

I would use the aviators, seal better and much bigger then the sinisters. Also get a good balaclava so yiur sealed up and yiu should be good to go. On real bitter cold days it might be a bit cold but my hands usually get cold before my face. I run pretty much zero windy on my nytro too. Very nice setup imo

I ride like you and love my BV2S from ski doo no fog big full view shield built in hd sun visor and i like the light on the back. just my 2 cents. I often wonderd how people can stand the mx style helmet have to take it of if you stop on the trail to talk and they seem like wind will get in quite easy. they must work seems to be the allot of the out there.

I have/had the 509 helmet and aviator goggles, the COLDEST set-up ever! Above 20 degrees F it was fine but anything below, forget it! I got frostbite on my cheeks on one ride and have never wore the set-up again. Purchased a modular helmet with heated shield, won't go back!

I run the 509 carbon with aviators and have had no problem with the coldest of cold days and high speed trails. They do have a breath box to help seal the face but a hood is the most important part. Make sure you get a wind stop and water resist material.

I've had this kinda setup up for 5 years no problems.

That is the key to any open face setup, I prefer the ones with the built in breath deflector, helps prevent fogging up even more and gives extra protection for the nose and cheeks.

Apparently the new Sinister X5 goggles are a little larger and designed to seal even better with the 509 helmets, looking at the changes it sounds tempting to sell my original sinisters and upgrade to the x5's.

Well I have the original sinister and the new model with the nose cone and aviators. Love the aviators the best.. I've never had a real fog issue unless it was a warmer day and I was doing a lot of work at slow speeds. But once I got moving the vents cleared it up. I've never used the breath box in the past. I was actually thinking the other day of trying it this winter.

So I will like the 509 setup and not be cold? I am also looking at a CKX modular helmet heated shield but I don't like the sunshade setup and it is 100 dollars more expensive than the 509 setup. OPEN or MODULAR?

I have a 509 helmet, and got both the sinister and aviator goggles. For cold weather the aviator goggles along with the breath deflector work best.

I wear an Evolution and have both Sinisters and Aviator goggles. I am 6'4" so my head sticks above the windshield quite a bit. I use a Unwind Balaclava and have not gotten cold with this setup.

I purchased the Piston model last year. I was using a Scorpion VX-17 Calavera before that with Scott Voltage Pro Air Snow goggles with the wind deflector.

I used the same goggles this year in the Piston helmet with the Klim Balaclava.

I ride in the U.P. and put about 1500 miles on. In the warm weather, the helmet was absolutely awesome. (+15 degrees or higher) The few times I ran with it cold, there was a very small gap of air just below the goggle strap to my cheek. I did not get frost bite there because the headsock covered the spot, but I could feel it a little bit.

I have always had good luck with these Scott goggles, but now they arent making them anymore. The aviators look like the ones to get, but they are so freaking expensive! At least the new Sinisters have different lenses now. Last year every model came default with the Yellow. Now it looks like you can get get a different lens when you make your initial purchase.

i have evolution helmet with sinister x5 and have klim artic balaclava and the unwind
ones. actually like unwind one better. the klim seems to have cold air blow up the nose piece. anyways. stupid question. do you put the breathbox in front of the goggles or do you put the breathox tight against your nose and the goggles overtop ?
