87 will perform better for an engine designed to run it yes. The higher the octane the longer the burn time generally. Running 87 is like adding ignition timing or compression as long as it does not detonate in the engine. I know the 120 and 150 engines are designed to run 87 and also will perform better with it. Not sure about the Phazer or the FX Nitro.

The Phazer is higher compression, so it will retard the ignition when it detects 87. It will run, and safely, but with ignition delayed, the performance will suffer somewhat. The FX Nytro, on the other hand, is nearly identical to the 120... a little more powerful (8.3%) than the 120, but a few CC's bigger (7.9%). Lets call it an 8% boost in size for an 8% boost in power. You don't need to mess with the gas for that.

Yours is the same as the Vector and Rage so the same would apply.
