I've always been a stickler for 91 octane, once I had to use bottle of Lucas octane boost with a fill of 89, but that is the closest I've come to 89. So I just got a td ecotrail 250 tune and they claim 89-91 octane. My question is : had anybody actually successfully run 89 octane in a machine? We go north into the bush often, and sometimes our planned full points aren't open, or are out of premuim. I can only carry so much octane boost lol. So the question still stands, can I really run 89 if I were in a bad pinch?

Avoid long pulls if you don't have the right fuel.
The best solution is to upgrade to the bundle and dashflash.

Ran TD Ecotrail for 3-4 thousand miles.. If your sure you have lower octane, don't go crazy on hard pulls.. I never saw a knock light and hammered that tune. IMO you will be fine on 89 with eco.. I will even go as far as 87 would run fine on ECO.

My bad, I thought it was powertrail that you got.
You must have muffler and cai?

Stock muffler and cai. I like my sled to be quiet. My dealer said that it has a ghost like manor lol

I ran the Ecotrail tune with an smm for a couple of seasons, back when they first came out. The great thing about that tune was that it stated 87 octane, so that’s what I put in it many many times. Back then the tunes did not have knock light protection or the ability to show boost!

I shall try and post this screen shot pic from a few years back showing TD tune info pertaining.

We are by no means saying run 87 or 89. Just stay off the flipper for hard holds.. I know guys don't want to carry octane boost, but I always carry 16 OZ. of klotz and splash a couple ounces every fill up. Cheap insurance! If you do it every fill up you stay ahead on your tank. I use this for storing my sled always.. I dump a whole bottle in on last ride.. Directions on bottle for storage

I have run Powertrail SM for 2 years. Always run 91 or 93 when available. Up in Canada last year we could only get 87 for a few tanks. No lights even on a few short blasts. Keep the full throttle short with questionable fuel and you will be fine. Go to a higher boost tune and I would start to worry on 87 or 89.

Thanks for the heads up, I brought the sled home today and started inquiring about a new stx for my wife /backup sled
