9 tooth extro's on mountian lite

I tried out my 9 tooth extro's yesterday and they rub on the front of the rails. It was not bad enough to shut down my day of riding but wore a good size groove in the cap on the tip of the rails. It rubbed the most when I backed off of the throttle or was coming down hill. My fix is going to be to remove the caps and cut the rail at an angle so it can't stab the track.

Teerex has pictures of this rail mod in the freeride track opinions thread. I have been wondering if the 9 tooths would work on the mtn lite. How tall are the lugs on your new track and is there enough clearance with the exchanger? I'm getting my turbo next week and it sounds like I should get that track too.

Yes I did post some pics of how much to cut of the FX in the Freeride track thread...

Had to cut some more of the rails. Now they just fit with as little clearance as possible to the drivers ;)!
The first cut along the red line was way off. Then I cut the green line.
I have now cut off about 25-30 mm of the rails (measured at the front of the rails) and about 5 mm off the front of the plastic protector (and a lot at the rear of them).
I also cut 5 mm off the slider runners.

Not enough space for the front protectors after first cut.

Much better after second cut:

Comparing stock rails with the shorter ones (yes, I have to drill another hole):

Not much left of the plastic protectors:

I have a good inch of clearance around the heat exchanger. You could put 10 tooth drivers in there with no problems. I have a 2.313 inch Camoplast Challenger Extreme and it made a huge difference.

Is an inch enough? I really want 9 tooths, but I'm a-feared of not having enough clearance. I was looking at Avid's website and they were saying that you need plenty of room for snow and air to move through. I bet the approach angle looks a lot better, though....

So, hills you were getting stuck on with the stocker you're blowing over the tops of, eh? Very impressive!

I think with that mod it might be possible to fit 10 tooth 2.52 pitch drivers. Has anyone tried? That would help out the angle of attack even more. I think it would be possible to move the skid back about 1.5-2 inches which would improve it again.
