I have a 99 SX with a M-10. It handles great! I am looking at getting a 05 or 06 RX-1 with Mono shock. I hear alot of problems with ski lift on tight trails and some handling problems.

Any one have a comparison of the two? I think my SX may be a little better in the tight trails, any thoughts?

Nothing sticks to the trails like the old sx's, the RX is a different ride, but they both have their pro's and con's. The front suspension on the RX is far superior to the trailing arm suspension! If you go from one to the other it is a huge difference! But...the RX just won't stick to the trail like the SX's, SXR's, SRX's. My $.02 :D

Your SX will definitely corner better. However, you are comparing a M-10 that virtually transfers no weight to the Monoshock that transfers weight like an Expert X. I have my transfer set to near max just for the fun factor since the trails in WNY are not in any shape to ride hard through the corners. I have yet to ride the sled with the xfer set to minimum. My guess is that it will dramitically improve cornering. I can tell you that I think the mono takes the bumps just as well or better than an M-10. This is comparing the Mono to a Poo 600 xc with the M-10. You can also add a thicker sway bar which based on most accounts makes the RX corner significantly flatter.

in the tight twisty GROOMED trails you will have the advantage... but throw in some studder bump corners and the Rx or RS sleds have the advantage..

Trailing arm sleds handle better but they beat the crap out of you on nasty trails..

Why don't you use your M-10 from your SX and put it in your RX1? I have had M-10s in all my Yamaha's. I have one in my SRX700 and I also have one in my 04 RX1. I don't know how the suppension is in the new sleds but I would like to try one. I also have Ohlins shock on the front of my SRX and RX1. You can play with those and to me it really helps the front end.

I bought myself an 05 Mono this year and I'm coming off a 2002 xc800 m/ Polaris factory M-10. The M-10 has the advantage in the small rumbles and stutters-it eliminates them! The mono is extremely good in these bumps also but it doesn't make them dissappear like the M-10. Except for this small detail, I'm leaning towards the mono. It transfers like crazy if you adjust it to, but take some adjustment out to balance the transfer and its perfect - just enough lift under WOT accelleration to dance the skis but still stays planted in the turns. The factory setting is a little too aggresive for me. Big bump performance is far superior. My XC was very prone to bottom out on the large woops and G-outs, but some of this was due to the Polaris version of M-10 didn't come equipped with the "M Valve" as the FAST version did. This "M Valving" definitely helped with the big bottoms-my riding partner had a FAST version in his Ultra- but it was still an issue.
Weight transfer was absolutely awful with my M-10. It really was a handicap when drag racing. I had 192 studs on that XC and never once holeshot anyone-not that I was a hardcore racer or anything, but I had my #*$&@ handed to me more than once by "lesser" sleds because of this.
I guess the biggest point I'd like to make is how much more "fun" the mono is to ride. It can be firm, but very comfortable. Its not as plush as the M-10 but I don't feel so isolated from the trail. Where the M-10 falls short is where the mono shines.
I personally don't have any issues with ski lift in the corners (stock skis, skegs, and sway bar). I feel my XC was more prone to it than my RX.
Good luck and hope this helps :D
