Just finished my install of my Oilite bushing kit and am now second guessing myself, looking for an answer.

I used locktite on the upper bolts, but not the bottom nuts and bolts or anywhere else, per the manual.

Right, wrong or preference?

Maybe Ulmer can chime in too!

Thanks,
Dave

I put that #*$&@ on everything!

I always use at a minimum med strength loctite on everything unless a service manual calls for high strength. I figure loctite is cheap, I don't want anything falling apart on me.

I would recommend red loctite on everything on the frontend. Have had mine apart a few times now and used red on all the hardware. Haven't had anything come loose yet. It is a bit harder to disassemble but I would rather have that problem then parts loosening or falling off it while riding.

Loctite all a-arm and spindle bolts. Any bolt that has a locknut should be reinstalled with loctite or with a better quality locking nut. The locknuts that Yamaha uses are junk and never stay tight especially after being removed and reinstalled a few times.

Ok, thanks! Might have to wait until spring to take them back apart and apply due to the cold front we are having. I don't feel like running the heat for 24 hours to cure it. On the fresh torque, I hope it will be ok for a season! Like I said, I did do the top ones, just not the bottoms.

I'll keep an eye on it, if it becomes a problem, I'll make arrangements to put it in another building overnight.

Dave
