Looking to remove the A arms/ spindles & have 'em PC'd as they got some ugly rusting going on I'm not that fond of.

Is there a nut welded to the back of the frame so I can just loosen the top/bottom bolts and pull them out (easy & simple) OR is it taking some panels off and digging in to get to a wrench on a nut?

Maybe replace worn stuff while it's apart, '07 FX & nothing ever done to it so what should I be looking for?

Thanks ;)!

The nuts are not welded to the sub-frame, but some people have done it to aid in removal of the arms. You're going to have to completely remove the sub-frame to find enough room to get a wrench in there to hold the nuts. Excellent time to change the oil filter and also check the bolts that hold the starter together.

You can get to the nut by removing the airbox or if you are really stubborn you can get at the nut (very difficult) through the steering control arm boot ... sub frame off is the best route .... can't figure out why the four inside nuts werenot wielded from the factory ... guess that the brigh engineer figured that it was so well designed and built that no one wold every have to remove the A arm bolts! While you have it apart its a great time to do the olite bushings and upbushman steering kit to get rid of most of the steering slop.

I was able to get to my A-Arm nuts by removing the steering tie rod boots from the plastic shroud and remove the steering tie rod from the spindle. You can get a ratchet and 3/8" torque wrench thru the shroud were the steering boot was. G.B.

just got done putting some oilite bushings in mine. i just took off the airbox.

If you are taking it all apart it might just be easier to take the sub frame off and work on a bench.

I was able to just put a box end wrench in there. I used my fingers to start and end the bolts. It was little tricky to do but I got it. Just need two fingers in a V then out the nut between them. Put 3 fingers in and use that to find the bolt and push it against the chassis and use the other hand to turn the bolt to thread it to the nut.
Take the wrench and put it in then use one finger it find the nut and hold it there until are are starting to get it tight.

Thanks for the various replies ;)!

I bent a wrench the first time I wrecked my a arms and don't have to take the sub frame or air box off can do it with just taking the tie rod boot off and have them off and back on in under 10 minutes but I have also done it about 10 times. I did it in the parking lot on a ride 2 years ago.
