- 2016 Yamaha SR Viper MTX 153"
Hi everyone, new to the site and to the viper world. Just bought my first 4stroke. 2016 viper mtx 153. I want to add some power , turbo would be great but everything i read says it's a coin toss weather or not I'll have bad rods. Does anyone know a definitive way to know ? Also are there places out there that sell the 180-200hp turbo kits including rods?
I've also been reading about evo flashes and air box upgrades and whatnot. I would rather not tear apart the motor. Would like to find something that bolts on and adds a considerable amount of power and still can say my engine is gonna be reliable for years. Turbo seemed to be that option until I found out about this rod issue after purchasing the sled lol
Any help or suggestions out there ?

In 2016 and up yamaha vipers, yamaha changed the rods in the viper and they are not as strong,so they recommend to put aftermarket rods when putting on a turbo
