I actually have 93 VK540II and noticed they still use the flexible extention to the rear of
the sliders . Wondered if anyone has tried adding washers to tip them up slightly so not
as much track is on the ground riding on hard pack ? Possibly turn better but still leaves a good
footprint when in deeper snow . Wasn't sure if might change slider wear ? The tension on the track
top already tries to compress them while accelerating and the wear in my bushings left the tips ups
a bit loose anyway (fixing that).
thanks

I added washers to the front side of the coil spring units and because of the angle they sit (flat)
it only seemed to preload the springs a bit..To do waht I wanted would require a block between
the flip up rear rails and the main susp...too much work for me in my limited shop.
I replaced 9 idler bearings and had to drill and split almost every tube as almn and steel plus
20 yrs had seized them up. There wouldn't have been any hope of adj track tension.
Since the newer VK seem to be using same design, I'd suggest pulling susp out and grease every
tube in the off season before this happens
thanks

Well . I struggled to install the track and susp last night and I just couldn't lift it up into place and
finally followed the directions in tech and flipped it on right side ... all 600lb of it ,
It is a younger mans job or next time , I will find some help. LOL
and I started it up to check track tension and forgot to install the upper 2 wheel assm ...ha
