Where else to ask when you are a Newbie???
I have taken my skid apart and am planning on updating the shock to a Fox Mega Float, replacing all the wheels and idlers, installing new bushings and new Hyfax.....
What am I missing? What should I do while it is apart? Should I go with the Yamaha bushings or? How about wheels and idlers?
You are the experts, any advise would be more than welcome....

I would send it too half baked to get updated with gussets, grease zerts and painted.

I have a buddy that made a set of rail reinforcements like the ones on the Apex in 06. You may need to get a couple bolts but these are machined out of aluminum and nice. I think over 400 bucks from Yamaha these are thicker and nicer I bet he would take 200 or so I could ask. He made me a set just like stock these are thicker but have nice recessed holes for the bolts etc

Do the mod for the front screw on the Hyfax so that you can use a nut instead of the tapped hole in the rail and there's a few more here in Rockerdan's post:

Ontario, this is only a suggestion as I don't know your circumstances, but to me it sounds like you are dumping a fair bit of money into an older sled?
With the Fox Mega, the halfbaked gusset upgrades, bushings etc etc, I personally would be looking into something a little newer like an 08 and up Vector or Apex.
With either of those, you are at least getting a better chasis with the Delta-2 amongst other things, and with your current value of you sled with the mods, I am thinking it will be around the same, and even more maybe?
Just a suggestion is all.

Hey Irv, you are are right I must admit that I am dumping a fair bit of coin into the old sled, maybe even too much coin. But I got this sled very cheap and I really like the tinkering and upgrading..
I also have decided that I want to try to make a sled that is almost 10 years old look better, handle better and faster than all my buddies new Doo's!! Since I am the only one who has balls enough to own a Yamaha!!

I am not too worried about resale value, since I want to keep the sled even when I upgrade next year. And yes, I do plan on upgrading to a 00 or 10 Apex.
