If any body with a new yamy with the new mono shock has not taken the skid out, and inspected it,they will be in for a surprise!! I have 3500 klicks on my RX-1-ER and I found that there was absolutly no lub. on any shaft, and that most of the plastic bushings that yamaha says will work, were completly worn out, and groving of the front solid inserts had started. My dealer says a fix is in the making, but it will have to be a dilly to correct this problem that could have been eliminated with a few zirks!! I think the only other solution would be oil inpregnated brass bushing, instead of the plastic.. :ORC

Another example of how Yamaha wants the customers to do the work they were supposed to do, like providing a way to grease the rear skid. Instead of installing zerks to make lubing simple, they want you to remove the skid and disassemble it. We all know that you should be greasing it every 500-1000 miles (at least on skids with zerks), but will people do that when they have to remove it and reinstall the skid? And how do they work they handle the warranty...the dealers I have dealt with would cancel the waranty if the owner removed their own skid. So are we expected to pay the dealer every time we want the skids greased??? Same goes for adding zerks...if my dealers ever saw that I had modified the suspension, no more warranty...so I guess you are expected to buy an '05, and pay the dealer to grease it when its required. What a joke!!!

While your dealer has the skid out replacing the worn items with updated have him install the grease fittings. He shouldn't charge you too much if he wants to keep you happy. Mine took care of me

Bushings and collars worn in 05' RX-1
with 1050 on my O5' I pulled the skid and noticed only the front and rear nylon bushing worn. The collars were also grooved. I replaced, Rich's Yamaha in Lockport, Illinois said that they would warrenty or "try to do something about it", I ordered them and replace all parts over the weekend. All the suspension parts were DRY.....What a pain in the A___.
