I am wondering if the extra $300 is worth it as well. Don't need all the features but to control better than manual would be nice. If the Aem fails to work than it may be worth the 650.

So the very question is:
Do the aem is able to maintain a preset boost with no spikes AND does it have a good 'push to pass' feature?

I don't think it has a push to pass, just up or down. I don't know how you could take on hand off handlebar to find and adjust a botton anyway. All I can do to hang on under full power. Your clutching would probably be set close to rev limitor anyway.
