well here it is, broke off 2 of tabs on the back side of the airbox. should i look for a new bottom piece and replace it, or just put it back on and allow the 4 metal clips to keep it closed. it does seem to seal all the way, i just want to make sure. this makes me sick... new sled and crap like this....

Some of us cut them off to make it so you can remove the lid without removing the headlight assy.

Just cut my wifes tabs off last night.

doug is totally correct...just about everyone here has ours removed since we can then remove LID easily without removing light pod....

I dont recommend doing this for no reason, but IF you have them snapped off already its fine..mine has been like this since day one.

Also, the reason for making the lid easier to get off is because the air filter foam easily builds-up ice when riding in powder/dust, and should be checked daily.

BTW, checking the air filter is in the pre-ride check in the manual. How could they expect you to mess with the headlight assy. before every ride?

GOOD CALL!

I broke mine the first time I took the lid of in 06. Don't worry about it.
