air box

Tricks are in this thread. Get them all off and pretty loose. Twist each clamp (with the airbox off) to where you can access the screws to tighten them easily. Oil the boots a little and press them down. With the lid off you can push from the inside and judge that they are all the way on. Tighten them up.

Just did this last night. I used silicone grease around the inside of the rubber boots, made sure none of them were folded over. It was impossible to get all 4 when they were dry...once lubed up they slid right into place. You can tell if they're on all the way by looking ins from the airbox side. The edge of the rubber boot should sit flush with the TB opening - no gap. Tighten down all the allen bolts with a long ball-head 4mm hex wrench. You will almost certainly have to remove the fairing/gauge pod to get into the hex bolts on 2, 3,and 4.

Don't forget the little hose on the front right corner, nor the one at the back left corner edge, nor the one on the back left corner underside, nor the plug connector. (three hoses and a plug...the hoses in particular are a PITA.

- I was searching and found this thread...

- My "new to me" 08 40th Apex has one of the tubes off (Furtherest one right), and I was wondering how you get at all 4 of them to tighten them up?

- What's the trick?

I had to adjust the clamps so that I could get a t-handle wrench in there to tighten them. One of them is tough even with the long handle as it hits the framework a bit.

That is what worked for me anyway.

to the OP,
I had that issue too. It seems that one of those boots wasnt on correctly from the dealership I bought it from and the boot was tightened up when it wasnt all the way on. So, it had an indentation to it instead of being round. It fought me until I used a feeler gauge, so to speak, to work the rubber around. It has corrected itself and is true to form and no problems since.

i thought there was a notch in clamp, and there's only one fitment.

lol, there is sadly enough!

The dealer that prepped it for install (ie. putting the battery in) must not have realized that because the clamp was way off and the end result was the buckling of the rubber.
