Guys i am not impressed w/the carb intake boots and or carb intake spicket, now the reason i say this is not the fact it is a BITCH getting the GODDAMN carbs in tight or anything like that,oh no,just that the damn things will fall off as soon as you rip it up thru the bumps. MY solution is to build some kind of a bracket system to hold them in place under extreem pounding, now if you think about this for a minute, the old air box was squeezed between the bulkhead and onto the carbs holding them in place, but now w/the filters hanging off plus the wimpy clamps from yamaha holding them on,i am installing some kind of a alum. bracket, best i can come up w/is a kind of an angle type piece that will fit up aganist bottom and front at same time, that will fit over to the delta box frame,on each side, and screw it down there, please if you guys have any suggestions, and ideas reply. Oh did i say i fu**** love the air filters, man this thing feels like it will rip, only tried in back yard, but love it :D :D

I didnt think they were that hard to put on!! I have beat the crap out of mine... OFF JUMPS etc.. and they havent come loose!!

Thats good news weltracer i hope mine dont either, but w/my luck they will, hey welt keep pounding them and let me know how you make out. Pete 8)

Hey Pete, What does God have to do with your loose carb boots?I would guess NOTHING!!! turn um tighter they'll stay put! Honk

They will pop out, went out today and the trails were beat up for the last 50 miles.Should off slowed down but what the he!!. About 2 miles from home the clutch side carb poped out! Maybe I didnt have that one tight when I installed the filters :?: But I doubt it :!: been turning wrenches for 20 years.
Will load test it again on sunday, doubt the trails will change over night.

The carbs will eventually come out ! I had this happen on my t-cat after removing the air box and going to filters.Worst part was overtightening the clamps on the boots is not the answer. My boots eventually cracked in places you couldn't see creating a lean condition due to the air leak!Once you go to the k+ns you need extra support for the rack of carbs or you will have problems.I installed a turn buckle with rubber grommets on each end to support the carbs after the filter install..problem solved! The rack is heavy and without the airbox it will vibrate just running the engine imagine what happens when pounding the bumps...

filters and small intake boots

I have been looking into this and I think the support bracket needed is inside the stock airbox. Open up air box and there will be a piece of plastic with two large holes and two small ones. Lay this on top of delterbox with rounded edges facing forward and the other edge just under filters but on top of battery. I do not have the ability to post pictures. If somebody else could look into this and post their thoughts, I would appreciate it. Redbarron
