Alignment measurement question

I'm working on the alignment on my sled and am kinda puzzled. I have a straight edge to lay along the track ( 4x6 steel post) but when I measure from the straight edge to the front and rear carbide bolts this is what I get.

Left front 8in
Left rear 8in

Right front 8 5/8
Right rear. 8 3/8.

Why would one ski be farther

If it matters the track is aligned and I'm running c&a razors

Are the bushings on the ski mounts all the same? I don't move the Steel tube (in your case) from one side to the other. The purpose of working off a straight edge from the track is to square the handle bars and one ski than align the other ski to the first ski with the toe you want.
This is how I do it.
Square left ski to straight edge.
Square handle bars off somthing on the chasis while maintaing ski parallel to straight edge.
Then set toe with right ski.

The bushings are the same. I have the bars straight. I measured them, put a level on them, and they look straight.

If I leave the beam on the right side I'm 1/4 toe out on that ski. Then do I just set the left ski from the right ski?
 
That's how I do it. Still wondering why one side is wider though?
 
I do the same way too. Just bungee your ski tips together to provide a little pressure. The C & A's like to be almost parallel so this way after you've set them parallel, they will toe out slightly when the bungee comes off.

I will do this shortly.

Does it seem odd that the one ski seems to measure farther out from the sled or is that not a big deal?
 
Don't worry about it, just get them pointed straight and pull the trigger.
 
Using straight edge and measuring off the track is overkill when doing alignment on these sleds. There are to many variables that can cause poor readings so it's best to keep it simple. With the skis straight I measure from the outside of one ski to the inside of the other, front and back. I don't use a bungee on the ski tips because that is not how it runs down the trail. On a flat surface (garage floor) I use the handle bars to make a couple of short left and right turns and then point the skis forward to make measurements. Once the toe is set I then adjust handle bar alignment by adjusting the steering post link. There is just to much play in everything even when new and these sleds tend to get twisted out of shape so don't overthink it.
 
It probably won't bother but still not right! If it was mine I would start measuring, somthing is not right!

I've measures every witch way from Sunday and everything adds up to be straight. I think that's just the way it is
 
If that's the way you want to do it off the track then use two straight edges off the track . You can't go wrong that way .Harbor fright has them .if you do it that way then the skis will be in line with the track

Because I trust the mighty Grizz's opinion and am kinda lazy I am going with him. I installed the stainless steel bushing kit from UP Bushman in my spindles and it is unbelievable how out of whack it was with all the slop removed.
