File the tip flat on your philliips head screwdriver. Bottoms the flutes in the screw and they won't strip out. I even use my cordless drill on them, spin right out.

Sooooo, would any of you be interested in a 5mm Allen screw made from 7075 aluminium? How much would you pay? Would you buy them anodized in Black, red, blue or just polished would be fine??? You would have to throw a 5mm allen wrench in your tool kit....

Im not sure what I would pay..... I'm still searching the Forum to find the guy that found these screw/bolts on an Eagle Talon or Mitsubishi Eclipse. So I can go to a Junk Yard and get them REALLY cheap LOL

I'd buy black or polished. I wouldn't want to pay more than $2 USD a piece for them though. Is $1.35 to $1.65 do-able? Maybe a discount on 10 packs or something?
Years ago when Specialty Sleds in Edmonton Ab did up a RX1. He used a metric allen bolt, but had a plastic bushing. I got about 25 of them, so finally when I redid my RX1 front to back. I used them, been sitting on my shelf for couple yrs now. Called them back, they have no idea where they came from. Hear is couple pics. Maybe making plastic bushings would be cheaper than alu?

My only concern is wouldn't aluminum be easier to strip both the head and threads since it is a softer metal? But the idea of an allen head would be better since we wouldn't need a socket/ratchet to unscrew the bottom panels on my Venture MP/Lite which uses the same bolts as the Phazer.

That was a concern I'll have to check out with the samples, if they get ordered.
The current quote I have suggests around $1.75 each retail. The shipping within Canada will bite because they'll be over 20mm which is the cut off for lettermail, so they'll have to go parcel in Canada......

Is anyone else interested in the two piece idea? I could look into a setup like that as well.....Maybe a stainless allen with stainless "washer"....
I am interested.

I bought this exact thing (stainless allen) like you are talking about with a black plastic collar. They are awesome and have had no issues after 5 years. I got them from Hartman Inc., Tom I think is his name. Dont know if he still sells them or not anymore.

Two piece would work for me. Anything to save a buck on shipping! I think stainless is the way to go.

I have been using the Phaser screws for the lower side panels on my 2007 Attak since the first year. Found the suggestion here on TY. They work great, look great, and easy on/off.

Unless you have a socket, you can't remove them, which can be a problem if you don't have one in your tool kit. Mine has a mix of hex and allen heads, which makes for more of a pain to hunt for another tool to open my panels. My hex headed bolts are recessed so a socket is necessary.
