I can understand the piece of mind that comes with the dealership servicing your sled but the oil change on the vectors is an hour job tops once you have done it the first time, but many ppl have never done there own oil changes with the introduction of qwiky lubes 20 years ago.
Workin 7 12's. finishing a house. finishing a cabin on rec land etc etc etc etc etc . So when wuz I findin that time again? I could save the labour by doing it, and pay someone the thousands in labour I'm saving by doing the other stuff myself. Fellas gotta prioritize
wasn't disagreein with you sooper,...I can see both sides,....where are you building at?,....I need work.....LOL...BTW, when do you find time to ride?
Barely
Only 540 miles this year

surprised the mods haven't asked you to post your location,...I guess they don't pay much attention to the RS forum....LOL

Don't know if you're getting the shaft. I couldn't see where you said what you paid.
I always do my own. Some guys may say they feel better with a dealer doing it but I don't. Thing is, I get to look everything over for other possible troubles while I'm in there. You check hifax, track tension, grease it and clean it. Dealers don't do that. They do as they are told and thats it.

While you have your sled on the lift changing the oil, change the chain case oil also. 10 seconds to take out the bolt, another 10 seconds to re-install, 30 seconds to put the oil back in.

The dealers up here told me about $250 with parts. I have no warranty left so I think it's a no brainer.

I thought it was a lot but I figured the first change should be done by the dealer. We bought it used this year with only 70km on it. If we don't get snow soon it will still have 70km on it next year.

Why would you want a dealer to do it.
That is all he will do.
Unless he is your Dad, if he sees somthing wrong, he will send you off to let it break, then stay in business fixing it for you. If you do the oil change, you will see the porblem and fix it.
Yeah, I see it

I agree with most. Like to do it myself, ( Check things out) Looks like only once this season anyway. My dealer checks everthing when they take a sled in its a package deal plus replacement parts of course. Pre winter prep was like 125.00 included oil and filter plus all the checks. I still like to do it myself 30.00 for oil But I also do my Ram and my Jeep for the same reason.

I guess you guys have a good point. I am actually a retired auto mechanic and I usually do my own truck and the wifes car but I hate getting my hands dirty nowadays. I guess thats why we built a 4 car heated garage LOL
