annoying squeak in steering on an Apex?

Silicone is an ok lubricant, but as mentioned before in the posting be carefull not to contact your clutches(over spray/mist) or else...and I find it doesn't seem to last very long and once it does wear out the problem is even worst it makes everything very dry.

I use a product called "KROWN" T32 spray this product works miracles and you can get at a car body shop.

I saw and ad on TV tonight for the Krown stuff. It supposed to be good stuff. Thanks for the replys guys.

How Do I get at the bushing behind the chain case. Can I just pop the top cover off and/or chain case side cover or do I have to remove the airbox? I hope I don't have to do that.

- Remove the upper body panel on the mag side.
- Unbolt the reverse mechanism from the frame.
- Remove the safety pins and unbolt the steering bushing
- Clean it up, grease it well and reassemble.

The one thing I'm not positive on is if you need access to the other side of the frame (fuel tank side). When I did mine I was in the process of changing the exhaust donuts so my tank was out. I did need to put a wrench on the backside bolts and I don't know if this can be done without removing the tank.

If you do have to remove the tank, search for a write up by RockerDan on replacing the exhaust donuts. It isn't difficult, but it does take some time. Dan did a great job explaining what needs to be done.

Can't I just spray some oil in it to get me through the rest of the season?

i tried to get those bushes out and yes you do need to take out the fuel tank as the nuts need to be held from the back of the frame.
My steering is still so much stiffer than my mates skidoo summit, think im going to change the riser to a higher one and piviot style.

niko.

Would anyone have pics of where the bushing behind the chaincase is. I am in the middle of replacing the cover and may be a good time to grease the bushing.

No pics but if you can see it buy looking through near the reverse handle.
Its really above the chain case not inside it.
If you move your steering while looking you will see it no probs.
But like i said you do need to take out the tank if you want to replace them with new ones.

cheers ,
niko.
