Well heres the deal guys, i have done all the searches and need a some distinct answers here regarding the crankcase pressure vent. As others have been experiencing when I roll my 04 rx to the left, a bunch of oil ends up ruining my clean engine bay, belt plugs and bla bla bla. I understand the idea behind the running of the tube with the heated hose running inline to prevent freezing but I still need clarification on these questions.

This first question may be dumb but, is the pressure the crankcase is venting, air pressure or oil, i'm assuming air vent because of high oil pressure ??

If air pressure is venting could you not simply attach a small air filter to the hose, and fit it upright so that it can vent when needed but oil will not leak out if machine is tipped over?

Is there any fix to this leakage problem that is maintenence free that you can explain??

Does anyone have a picture or explicit description of where this hose is?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your time and patience, i'm still learning, hopefully this was the right forum.

If the longer hose fix works, where do you run the hose and does it simply have a plug at the end or does it just return to itself?

The crankcase vent hooks up to the bottom of the airbox on the left side. When you tip it on the left, oil flows through that vent into the airbox. The best way to avoid this is to not tip it on its left. Heated hoses won't help you with this. If you put an air filter on the vent, you won't have suction from the airbox to reduce the crankcase pressure - this is a bad thing. Also, air filters won't keep the oil out.

The one thing that *might* work would be to run a host from the vent box UP to the top side of the carbs, over to the right side of the sled where the oil tank is, and back to the airbox. This of course would be a long hose, which would be more restrictive than the original short hose.

maybe this

Well, this doesnt sound very promising. I forgot to mention I have aftermarket filters, so my air box is gone. I just wish i knew more about the setup as a whole so I could figure it out. I understand the air filter would not keep all the oil out but it would certainly slow it down. What about a check valve that lets air in but no oil out ??
