Another set of hyfax!!!!!!

800 mile so far this season. 80% CRAP and I mean CRAP conditions. We have had very little snow in Eastern NY. Hyfax wore down to 1/8" before the line and stopped there. Hasn't moved since then.

Guy I ride with has an ETEC. Same amount of miles and his sliders are SHOT. He is at the line right now.

I'm in the same boat...Crap Crap Crap conditions in Central Maine and Hyfax wore down fast at first, so much so I thought i'd need to change them before 300miles but they stopped about 1/8" before wear line and haven't moved in over 200miles.

What pisses guys off is that you can get down to 1/8" or less in some spots in less than 100 miles.
The wear is strangely uneven, not like what guys are use to seeing on the other brands they are switching from.
This is why people are asking and or doing something about it.

Ya but, in my experience, once it gets to that point it doesn't move.

I'll give you an example of my 2 buddies. One has an 09 ETEC and the other has a 10 800R. The guy with the 800R has very little Hyfax wear. The guy with the ETEC is down to zero. 600 Miles and he has to change his Hyfax before our next ride. We all have the same miles and conditions on our sleds and started with new Hyfax.

The only difference we can see in the 2 Poos, is the 800R has 2 extra wheels on the inside of the track, just behind the 2 front outside wheels. And the guy with the 800R who has been riding for over 10 years set up both sleds.

So its not just a Yamaha problem. It can even be different in other makes and different from sled to sled of the same make.

In the end, you got me hanging. Why are my Hyfax jsut fine while the guy next to me are shot. Tells me is something in the setup, riding conditions or something none of us have thought of.

Just purchased a XTX and changed my sliders for the first time. The slidders are approx 1" 1/2 short in the rear. Is the common? Are you all experiencing the same gap in the back. Will this pose a problem? They are Yamaha issued XTX slidders from the dealer.

Thanks,
KI

fast m-10 suspesion

I'd be interested if anyone has installed an m-10 or airwave suspension in a Nytro. If they have, I wonder if they still have issues with hyfax wear. I don't think spending $2000 on a sled to save $40 makes sense but I'm just curious!

I noticed that too on my Venture MP. I cut my replacement hyfax to the exact same length so no worries.
