Another set of hyfax!!!!!!

My hyfax is real thin right below the rubber snubbers. The wear line is about 1/8' thick.

Looking at a new set of hyfax there is still about 1/4" left of hyfax past the wear line.

Is this the point of where the hyfax stops to wear for a while or will I be seeing aluminum soon. 650 miles on the sled. Almost all the miles were in the UP in good snow.

I have a big trip coming next week. Should I change them or will the wear slow down now that it reach this point of wear.
 
on my attak they wore right to the line and stopped had close to 3000 miles...but I guess at 450 miles I added small wheels at the bend and clips to all the rows...stayed there...unless there is a big wear spot ...they wear to a point and pretty much stay there..

This may help with slider wear but you reduce the front shock travel by 33% thats one of the last resorts to tuning a sled IMO.
 
I was doing the hyfax change 3 times a year. I got sick of it and just kept them on and they wore down to the line and stayed there. I had over 2500 miles on one set and probablly could have went atleast 1000 more
 
I have an xtx and I have 4000 miles and they are like new. I changed my wheels when I got it. If you just want to change the outsides you dont need to change the mounts at all. The wheel will stick out a tad farther but its fine. This will help alot. I added 2 wheels on the inside and I used skidoo mounts because they are cheap and dont require machining. You only have to machine mounts when you change the inner wheels because the wheels will rub on the inner drive cogs on the track. This as been beaten to death so do a search and you'll find reading for days with lots of instructions and tips on adding wheels.

mfgsupply.com just had a sale (12.99) each on 133.35mm idlers with the correct bearing ID". These should work with nothing additional required and reduce your hyfax wear.

Now editing this post. Mine just arrived this morning and they are a little wider than stock. I used them anyway but just replaced the 4 outer ones. I'll see how these work out before I modify to make them work for the two inner.

I just ordered 6...let me know how they work. Do you think the inside ones will rub ???
