i know the Simmons ski debate has been beaten to death but i am concerned about cornering my new RX-1...i am coming off a ZR 600 which was a great machine in the corners....what i need to know is if the Simmons are the right aftermarket ski for this purpose.......the 05 stock skis are the same as last years Viper S....my dealer thinks i will be fine with the stock skis, but i want the best handling i can get out of the RX-1.........price is not a big concern but a pair of Simmons runs bout $600 cdn so i want to make sure the improvement justifies the cost............i know the Simmons are a big improvment over the stock 03 skis....but how do they compare (handlingwise) to the saddless Viper skis?...........Jeff

If you are concerned about cornering you might want to look into the C&A's. The guys that have them rave about their handling. I would have a set if they weren't so ugly.......................

Simmons are a major improvement over stock and will help you corner better. My understanding is the C&A's should be better for in the corners. I have a set of Simmons on my 03 RX-1 and difference between stockers is huge. I am probably going with C&A's on my 05 RX-1 just to try something different.
c&a pro razor's.biggest difference of any suspension mod i made.this may sound odd but my top end picked up after i put these on also.and now i can uncrank my limiter straps and get a better hole shot
win win win

I have C&A pros on a Polaris sled and they work great. I am also debating between the Simmons and C&As for my new Rx1. It seems a lot of guys are running the Simmons on the Rx1, just wondering what the performance differences are. Has anyone ridden both and if so which did you feel cornered the best and overall rode the best?

The handling improvements with C&A Ultra skis in the corners is dramatic over stock. I have never been a big aftermarket ski guy till I ran them on my sled and as pointed out earlier, it may be the single best thing you can do to your sled for handling...BBY

Simmons. There has never been a unhappy customer. Doesn't that mean something?

Well, the Simmons are great skis and corner great, BUT, they are NOT super agressive for cornering. The Simmons excel when flotation is a necessity. The stock skis should be avoided because the low flotation is dangerous, but they are agressive in corners. Note that the 05RX skis are NOT viper skis - the keel is deeper on the RX ski than the viper.

Just some info on the stock Yamaha skis to clear up some confusion. Yamaha has made the same basic design ski with a saddle and without since 2001. These skis have come in various keel sizes. From 01-04 they had either a short keel or a deep keel. For 05 Yamaha has introduced a new mid keel design. The ski bottoms can be swapped out on any of these models to accomodate different riding styles. The deeper the keel the more aggressive the cornering will be. The list below shows what came on each sled as original equipment.

01 Venture

Mid Keel
