So I brought my sled home from up north to replace the exhaust doughnuts. I had the sled pulled apart and found one of the header pipes broke. I was doing the work with the sled on my trailer and put it outside on the driveway with my cover over the sled, so the wife could get her car back in the garage, while waiting for a header pipe to show from ebay. Yesterday I went to leave for work at 630 am and some thieves took my LOCKED trailer and sled. The rub is my Daughter had her sleds and enclosed trailer stolen a couple months ago just a few miles away. The sled had the skid frame dropped down, seat, fuel tank, exhaust, and all the bolts that were removed, and those parts are in my garage. If anyone has someone looking for assistance on how to reassemble, or looking for parts to put back together, or parting out the sled let me know. It really upsets me where this country is going, nobody wants to work for their money, just take from everyone one else.

Damn so sorry to hear this, your right this country is going to hell in a hand basket.
If only we could use some old fashion justice.
POST a full size good PIC and watch every craigslist ads. Good Luck I'll keep a eye open for sure.

I am at 7 and Farmington in a sub a few blocks away off of the main streets. They are brave as my outside garage lights were on all night (dusk to dawn lights) My Daughters were behind her business at Plymouth and Farmington area and she had surveillance cameras, however they could not get a plate only see the type of vehicle. The Livonia police said they are stealing any kind of trailer and getting away with it. mine and my daughters were secured with locks, but that only slowed them down.

Steeling sleds is nothing new and has nothing to do where your country is going. Happens everywhere. Your sleds are very custom. Some parts like your windshield would be spotted easily on craigslist hopefully.

No lock is full proof but I'm curious what kind you and your daughter had installed?

We used the Fulton pin lock which was not the most robust choice but we had a little faith in humanity. Livonia is a Detroit suburb which has been a very safe area but lets face it, they are not stealing in Detroit because they have nothing to take. The police said any and all trailers anymore are not safe. There is no VIN stamping just a easily removed sticker and then weighing the trailer and getting a assembled registration is all that they have to do. There needs to be tougher rules on trailers such as permanent VINs and close inspections before assembled registrations issued. I have had friends with enclosed construction trailers and lawncare/landscape trailers stolen all over on a regular basis. If you don't store them inside they are going to disappear. The funny thing is I have a Master lock ball type clamp lock I use when traveling to secure trailer and it was in my truck. thought to myself you don't need that with it in driveway by garage under two dusk to dawn lights with neighbors close by. :(

For sure the ball lock would of bough ya a couple more minutes. I use an Amp Lock ball lock and it would be easier for the to remove the nuts/bolt from the trailer than to cut through this heavy duty lock.

I park my sled in the country in my unlocked shed. I am the opposite, when I have to bring them in the suburb where I live I am more afraid of getting them stolen. Doesn't help that I don't bother putting fire/theft insurance.

I never like that saying. What, you would steal it if you see trailer and sled unlocked? Come on.

My cousin was in Quebec sledding this weekend. Stayed at a big Hotel called L'Esterel. Got both her sleds stolen overnight from their enclosed trailer.

No... it just means if someone intends on stealing something a lock isn't going to stop them. If someone (probably kids more than adults) finds whatever not locked up they may consider taking it.

If everything is unlocked thief population would go up? Not so. Only people steeling are thieves young or old.

"Locks only keep out the insufficiently motivated thieves out." I think this quote is more fitting.

wow just saw your other thread now this???

I am at 8 and Farmington in Farmington Hills, will keep an eye out!!
Not counting on seeing it ever again, been a couple years now. :(
The funny thing is my Daughters were insured and after getting paid off by the insurance company they were found in Detroit. Livonia police called her and said we found them come get them, she said call her insurance they now own them.
Mine was not insured and learned a valuable lesson. :o| My new ones and trailer are insured now, lesson learned the hard way that there are dirt bags out there more then ever.
