Hello every one, I have a 2004 warrior the speedo quit working. Reads zero everything else seems to work as it should. I have shearched this topic and I have found a lot of good information on TY. One post that pointed me to short to ground in the nose of the sled, I repaired the wires still no speedo reading. I checked the bearing on the drive shaft and it is fine, checked the plug at the back of the speedo as well as sending unit to harness connections. Does anyone have a link to a speedo troubleshooting post or know the resistance test procedure for testing the sending unit. Any assisstance would be greatly appreciated.

Press and hold the button until the speedometer flashes and goes to kilometers or miles depending on what it is on now. That may just reboot it if not I think you may have to try a different to see if its your wiring or the unit.

Thank you for your reply, I tried the reboot without success. Do you happen to know the resistance test procedure for testing the speedo sending unit? Thank you for your time

is the little gear still on the end of the shaft -i've seen them fall off or get loose.

Time to try a new sensor they are easy to change. I dont know of any testing procedure for the sending unit. I do beleive the pickup unit works the same as an simple generator. The gear provides one side of the magnetics and the pickup provides the other by electromagnetics. The electric pulses generated by forcing one magnetic field through another is picked up and the more current generated is translated into speed and distance.

speedo

unplud sensor take dvom put it on ac votage connect to plug spin track with engine running you should see a climb with ac voltage same as speed sensor on cars .if nothing sensor is defective

Thank you for your reply. I ran the test as you suggested and sure enough I have a bad speedo sensor. I order a new one should be ready to go well before we get enough snow to ride
