Maybe this has already been done and I've just missed it, but if not, here is another windshield option for those unhappy with the current 11+ offerings. This is a shield off an 07 Apex Mountain. I didn't feel like laying down the cash on all the proper dash plastic from an older Apex, so I just cut the old style shield to fit. It isn't perfect by any means, but not the worst thing I've ever seen.
Downsides are you have to drill new holes, so you are left with the stock holes open. I'll likely do something to cap them. Also, the trained eye will be able to tell that the fit down near the nose of the shield isn't quite like intended, but really doesn't look that bad either.
This was just a practice shield, I plan to order up a new black one now that I know this can be done with reasonable results.

Not sure if you've seen a good picture of this yet as Yamaha hasn't really released any good photos of this one yet but here's a pic of the new low all black windshield Yamaha has released for this season to fit the 2011-up Apex's. The part number on it is SMA-8HG96-10-BK.

I have, thanks. Just don't like the look of it, thats why I decided on this quick fix to get me by for now in the hopes that a sleeker looking option will come along. On those real cold weekends where I actually need it to function I'll just throw the stocker back on.

Was there ever any updates to 08 shields? My mid height 40th shield directs the air right into my chest and upper arms so I would like something better other than going to a larger shield.
I believe the newer shields on the newer models do a better job at redirecting the air, but I don't believe they will fit on an 08?
