I recently sold my 07 RTX & up-graded to a 06 Attak mainly because it rode like a lumber wagon & no matter how tight I ran the track ( tighter than strings on a banjo !!) the track still ratcheted. The Attak I picked up which has the mono suspension & it already had the extrovert drivers installed!
I re-valved the mono shock & there is no comparison in the ride compared to the RTX, it is an awesome riding sled!!!
The problem I am having is that although it has the anti ratchet drivers with an open window track & I don't have the track loose, ( only one inch free hang) the damn thing still ratchets!!!!!! How can this possibly be??
Does anybody recognize the drivers in the picture? Are they garbage? This is frustrating because I thought i was finally rid of that problem once & for all,

Those are not the whal drivers, so maybe avids?? In my opinion you are still running the track to loose. Also in yamaha opinion per the book. I have a 07 attak, and have found that when I run the track real loose, that I cause a lot of track/tip/hyfax damage. Also seems to run slower. When I run at the factory specs, or maybe a tad looser, everything seems to wear better and top speed seems maybe better. When I made the switch from polaris to this attak, I could not beleive how tight the spec was, but now I think it is close. What I do when I put in new hyfax is adjust to factory spec, and after a day or two, It may loosen up just a tad.....I then leave it alone

They look like the ski-doo drivers.
Good drivers.
Beat a set for 12,000 miles and still doing well.
Wonder if something else is going on?
Mine never ratcheted even with 2"+ of track looseness.
A friends track actually locked when his drivers skipped out of the holes, but the track was SERIOUSLY loose.
Maybe double-check chaincase tension?
Is it possible the drivers are skipping on the driveshaft & need shimmed?
(Had to shim mine)
Some ideas anyway...

I would check the chain tension and also maybe the chain. I had an old ZRT that would feel like the track ratcheting but it was actually the chain skipping. Replaced the chain and all was good.

It does seem a bit odd. I run my track looser that you and have never had an issue. Might be a stupid question but are they the correct pitch for your track?

How much pressure are you pulling down on the track with at the point you are measuring. If that is simply hanging from it's own weight, then it is likely too loose. Also be sure you do not have any broken suspension parts. These can also allow the track to ratchet even with a tight track.

Different animals but my Vector, which doesn't have the extroverts doesn't ratchet at all and I have my track set looser than his.

Either the chain is jumping or the drivers are stripped on the shaft

The first thing I did after it ratcheted the first time was check the tension. It was a quarter turn on the adjuster bolt, right on the button.KevinS said:I would check the chain tension and also maybe the chain. That is a good question as I bought the sled with the drivers already on it, however, it appears that the cogs line up with the track.Bradford said:It does seem a bit odd. The chain tension is spot on & where the drivers meet the shaft looks good. According to many on here, my track set the way it is should not be to loose when using the extro drivers.raginyamaha said:Either the chain is jumping or the drivers are stripped on the shaft
I hope I don't have to tighten the track like a banjo string like I had to on my RTX, wouldn't have gone to the trouble to sell the other one to buy this one.
This is beyond me, it makes no sense as to why it is ratcheting

mark the drivers and the shaft get it to ratchet and recheck it to see if its the drivers on the shaft.

This may be an elementary question but I guess worth asking... Does the track installed have all the windows open or is it every third like many stock ripsaws have?
If that isn't the case I would suggest checking track pitch and driver pitch. Also, like said before, mark the drivers and the axle and see if the drivers are stripped on the axle.

Ok, process of elimination begins. I will mark the drivers & the shaft to see if the drivers are stripped. I kinda doubt it though because the metal bands around each end of the drivers are tight & not broken. I will check anyway just to be certain.
