A bunch of my friends went out to Cooke City Montana last year on a sled trip and had a blast. They booked another trip and I'm jumping on board for this year the trip isn't until Feb 2008 but want to start looking into things.

Will I have to change anything on my sled (e.g. clutching jeting, etc) to ride at 7000 to 10000 feet. I believe this is the elevation in the area if incorrect could someone correct me. Right now I have 05 clutching on my sled as follows.

8bu-10/10.3 both holes
14.5mm rollers
O-P-O (30x3.25)
White at 70' on secondary

I've done a couple of other things as far as seat, rider forward but will I need to rejet to ride at these elevations?

Thanks any help would be appreciated sounds like I'll be the only 4 stroke going so I would like to show well for team blue.

I am running an 05 RXMtn and my last trip out to same elev. I was running 8BU-10 with 13.3 /13.9, was only getting 9500-10000 so you should be good with your clutching. As for jetting I run ECP's and was at 160MJ and way to fat, going to try 150 this time around.

Where are you going to be riding? Are group is also heading west in Feb.

From what my buddies told me we ride out of Cooke City. It's in the southern area of Montana bordering Yellowstone national park and Wyoming. We are looking at renting Moms Motorsports transport from the border crossing at International falls (near Thunder Bay,ON). Here are some photos from last year.

I've ridden Cooke City many times but not with my RX-1M. The easy way out is to buy a Holtzman ATACC and a Shockwave helix. The ATACC will keep your jetting where it needs to be and the Shockwave will allow you to dial in the added RPM you need as you gain elevation.
By the way, riding Cooke City is a total kick in the butt!

Thanks for the info frosty. What's the price on the Holtzman ATACC? Royal Distributing here in Canada has it listed at $320. Is it an easy install?

cooke

Call Cooke City Motorsports Brandon can hook you up. All of our sleds are boosted now but I will see what I have written down on jetting for ya. We ride Cooke almost every weekend so If you need a guide let me know when you are coming out.

Jason.

Whitte.. can you post what you have for jetting and clutch set-up for the higher elev.
Or you can drop me a PM with the info

Thanks

I can't really give you any advice on clutching for Cooke. I ran the stock '03 mountin clutching with Holtzman Eng. red carb springs on the 151" track. The sled did ok with this set up but was lightened by 50lbs. I have heard the '05 clutching is better.

As for jetting; I ran the stock mains (I think they were 135s) along with the lighter red carb springs (frosty now has those). Like
Jason (whitee); I run boost now.

Like Jason said; call Brandon at Cooke City Motorsports. He's the Yamaha dealer in Cooke. His number is 1-406-838-2231 or their web site is http://www.cookecitymotorsports.com/.

If I'm able to take time off when you guys come out; I'd be willing to show you guys around and let you take a spin on he SCRX-1mtn. Ask yammiman, how he and his son enjoyed Cooke last season.

Jim

Doesn't look like I'll get to do this trip, our dates got changed to Mar11-21. I can't get the time off because of march break and seniority picks for vacation. Thanks for all the info I’ll keep it in mind when the next trip roles around.
