Any Interest in Black Avdel Stavex Multi-Grip Rivets

Well... sorry guys, but this isn't going to happen. The vendor that was going to give me a price checked with Stanley (owns Avdel) in Finland and was told there were none of the black in stock and it would take an order of 100,000+ to get them produced. I declined. :p

During my research on rivets, I also ran across the Huck Magna-Lok structural rivets (Howmet Aerospace) - part #MGLP-R6-4. These appear to be even stronger than the Avdel Stavex multi-grip rivets but the part of the rivet that would be inside the tunnel may be too long. That part would likely stick inward past the tunnel by just over 1/4" (as a guess). I am thinking that might be took long. They are sold in as 25-packs or 100-packs (or more). This would be intended for replacements for the rivets that hold the front & rear sections of the tunnel together.

A multi-grip rivet like yamaha uses (the avdel stavex) is more versatile and can handle different thickness of material better. Those stavex rivets are the perfect compromise between strength, ease of use, and versatility. Putting in a 100 rivets is really, really fast and repeatable with a pneumatic rivet gun. The rivet doesn't need to be any stronger than the materials you are holding together. In a sheet aluminum application (tunnel) you would be better with a rivet that is easy to replace than one that is too strong and a pain to work with.

BTW, I called fastenal and got the same message on the black stavex rivets, 100,000 minimum order.
