2024 Thundercat, 2025 Venom
I picked up a 2025 Yamaha Venom for my 12-year-old and 70lb daughter. This sled will be my backup when she is not with me.

I wanted to document this build in case anyone else is looking to do something similar to an Arctic Cat Blast or Yamaha Venom.

Main Goals
· Add a front bumper along with a skid plate and tunnel protector to help protect the sled.
· Replace the track with something more trail-worthy with built-in studs.
· While the track is out, replace the brake rotor, brake pads, and add a 4th wheel kit.
· Replace shocks with something like the QS3 that has multiple settings for different riders or conditions.
· Add Heavy-Duty Chassis Springs to better handle a 200-pound rider.
· Swap 38” front A-Arms for 42” front A-Arms and add BoP Heavy-Duty ProCross Sway bar.
· Replace the skis with C&A Pro’s XPT skis and add Bergstrom Skegs Triple Point carbides.
· Replace the useless windshield with a mid-height or tall windshield with a focus on rider comfort and usability, not on style.
· Prep for installing a Garmin 6" Tread 2 GPS.
· Add Hand Guards to keep Penny’s hands from getting cold. Handguards include LED lights and Mirrors.
· Reduce as much rotating mass as possible.
· Swap the gas tank so we get 2 more gallons of fuel capacity.

We ran into some shock install issues. I will update with what we finally went with once the build is completed.

Here are some of the pictures that were taken when the issues were being worked out.

I haven't done anything to the engine yet, aside from adding a lightweight muffler. My daughter is 12, and this will be her first snowmobile, so keeping the power under control was a priority for me. We will see how it goes and maybe start trying to squeeze a few more HP out in a year or two.

Shock Update: Since the very rear track shock could not accommodate a QS3 shock, we purchased the rear shock from the Arctic Cat Blast Shock Upgrade Kit (8639-485) and will install that in place of the OEM shock. Rear Track Shock

Here are some new pictures they sent me today. All the lights, except the headlight and handguard lights, turn bright red when you hit the brakes.

I think it looks a little funny how the gas tank floats as it does. You would think that they would want it flush with the tunnel; doing that would certainly add some additional fuel capacity.
