I'm wondering if there are any other long distance riders here in New England, better yet right here in New Hampshire? I like to do weekends of 500+ miles when conditions and time permit. I have every Friday off as well as the weekend, and would like to meet up with others who ride hard and long. I'm already planning a weekend trip to Moosehead Lake in Maine from here in New Hampshire with my girlfriend. I would like to do similar rides...maybe even a longer ride if I can swing the time off from work. This is the type of trip I feel good about doing with an RX...no trailer full of spare plugs, belts, jets, and tools to carry. Oh, and for the record, a friend and myself did a ride while I still had my ZRT a few years ago, from near the Mass. border to Back Lake in Pittsburg, and BACK, in 2 days. Left Sat. morning at 6am, rode like hell all day and arrived at 11:15 pm, 339 miles later. We did the return trip Sunday. The trip was just to see if we could do it. Keep in mind...trails in the southern half of the state leave much to be desired...thats why it was such a tough trip.

Any interest in VT?
If not, I can understand. If you are registered in NH + ME, that is quite a few $$ already.
I am registered in VT + Quebec. Not much change from $200 for that!

It sounds like fun. I'm not sure my girlfriend would be up for that many miles. She is breaking in her 04 rx-1 and still kind of a begginner, but she rides good. We may head back to rangeley this weekend, my sister just got a new sled so I think its a good learning area.

I ride cross country most of the time, however I do not ride at night.

I have trail permits in Maine,New Brunswick and Quebec.

A typical cross country would be to drive to Medway,Maine club put on the saddle bags and run up to Presque Isle for the nite. Next day make a tour of the "COUNTY" spend the nite back in Presque Isle or Grand Falls,NB and run back to Medway the next day. Thats a short trip.

I also make runs up to Montreal and back, which are a lot of fun on really good trails. This February I'll do the Gaspie, will take about 10 days to do it.

My longest trip is from Medway,Maine to International Falls,Minnesota and back about 5000 miles.
I would rather go cross country then run in and out of the same motel. Get to see more country and trails that way.

Any time anyone wants to go cross country just let me know, I'll go.

I also have every fri. off, and go to either northeren VT or NH or western MAINE. i usually put on 700-800 miles on a 3 day weekend, and would be happy to meet and ride with other like minded riders.

I don't get the chance to ride a whole weekend very often (wife and work), but I am looking at taking a week off in early / mid February to ride from the NH Lakes as far up in Maine as I can get, starting on Sunday afternoon and returning the following Friday.

So, if anybody is interested, drop me a line. Route would probably go through to Diamond Pond in NH, then Rangeley, Eustis, Jackman, Moosehead and see from there just not sure at this time.

Me and my wife are experienced riders and also love packing up the saddle bags and going on overnite trips.we usally ride out of millinocket maine and head north from there or like riding up in canada alot, but we recently built a house in upton maine and plan on doing some exploring there and making this area our new home base.We live in mass but head up there just about every weekend.where in n,h. do you ride out of? our place is right by ERROL n.h near lake umbagog. maybe we can hook up some time and try it out? send me a message about more details..

Snowdevil, you are less than an hour's sled ride from me! I'm near Milan, NH about half way between Errol and Berlin. By trail its a straight shot from my house to Upton, without even crossing a road! In the future I will be moving back to my shop in Colebrook, but thats not much further from you. How often do you get up to your place in Upton? I ride almost every weekend. I've only done a small amount of riding in Maine, and non in Canada...YET...but I'm up for it. I'll be registering in Maine very soon.

Snowdevil / nhrxrider:

I ride out of Moultonboro when there is snow, but also ride a lot around Diamond Pond. Sometimes I park in Colebrook, sometimes at the pond, and lately at the Rt 26 lot west of Errol.

Also ride Rangeley, and a favorite day ride is Diamond Pond to Rangeley for lunch and back.

I've got a kitchen pass this weekend, so will be doing Diamond Pond on Friday evening / Saturday / Sunday morning.

What are the Errol trails like now?

Two weekends ago I rode Errol trails, and they were truly awesome. Last weekend we rode Lancaster to Colebrook and turned and went about half way to Errol before turning around, and the trails were also awesome. There are a couple places to watch, the typically abused areas near town or parking areas will probably be torn up a bit, maybe a little bony, but the rest are being kept very smooth and make for some great riding. The best areas are southwast of Errol up to about the southern side of Lake Francis. If you are planning to ride to Rangely, stay to the eastern most trails. In Pittsburg Trail 20 around the outside of the loop stays FAR better than any of the inner trails closer to town.

I will be riding this weekend, Friday on my own, probably with my girlfriend on Saturday, and most likely alone again on Sunday. If you want to meet up anywhere, I'd be up for it. Go to www.weather.com and enter zip 03588 to see the weather forecast for this weekend.

Jim sounds good: I'm probably going to shoot up towards Errol on Friday: want to get my Maine trail pass on the way.

If you want to meet up on Saturday morning somewhere, that could work for me. I haven't reserved a motel yet, normally I stay in Colebrook when I trailer to northern NH.

My email is tshelv@ctp.com if you want to email directly.

Regards

hey guys just got back from my first real riding in the errol/upton area.Hooked up with the pres of our club in upton and he showed us the trails from my house in upton over to rangely for lunch and some awsome off trail riding up in the mountains. On sat we took a ride down into errol for fuel and did a loop over towards milan to 7 islands bridge and the towards sucess pond where i can get back to my house from york pond rd and north rd.Looks like some real good riding in this area, can't wait to do some more exploring next weekend..might head over to rangely to check out the rodeo..email me and we can make some plan soon..

Snow, nhrxrider and I rode this Saturday, excellent ride from Milan to Rangeley via Errol and Pittsburg.

Unfortunately don't think I can ride next weeekend, wife and myself both travelling on business, so weekend is a goner. Following weekend could work, depending on the home negotiations...

May be an idea to get the NH RX riders together.
