I'm wondering if anyone has closed of the front hole under the fuel tank. I'm entertaining the thought of closing it off and wrapping the pipe with header wrap. Closed of the rear, and the triangular side behind the reflectors, and put a duramax muffler on. No more Ice or water splashed on your boots but still accumulation on the sides of the sled.

i closed the front hole last spring. also removed rubber side shields and have not seen any ice cave form in the tunnel.

Did you wrap the exhaust pipe with header wrap? Have you seen any plastic melt on the fuel tank? What you did is what I was looking at doing, but I was looking at cutting off the edge of the tin with the rubber strips, just for added heat reflection from the exhaust pipe.

I closed both holes because I was tired of wet boots and having to stop all the time to clean the ice out of my tunnel. I removed the rubber side strips and trimmed back the heat shield under the gas tank to allow heat to escape better. I also installed a Racer's Edge Hindle exhaust. So far no wet boots and no ice which means no more overheating. My only regret is that I did'nt do this sooner.
