Any tips for polishing the tunnel?

Anyone have any tips for polishing the tunnel, mainly the floorboard area. It is difficult to do so with the star punched boards. If you use a power ball I am sure it will rip it to pieces. It gets quite tiring spending many many many hours polishing by hand, so any ideas would be appreciated.

The best tip I have is not to do it. Once you start you can't stop. Then it is always dirty, needs polished again.

My buddy did his pro-x 700 a couple of years ago and it looks like crap today.(never kept up on it) It could be brought back but it would take a 2 or 3 step process now. And even then it would have to be kept up on.

I use Simple Green to take the grime off then followup with a spray foam Stainless Steel Sink Cleaner...This works great without a ton of work.

Check with the guys on the vintage TY threads. They know the do's and don'ts of tunnel polishing and possibly some short cuts.
Upland ;)!

i have polished mine, wifes and father in laws and all still look great. I only do it once or twice a year. still looks way better than nonpolished. just my 02. if you are really worried about it after each ride wipe it down real quick with with a damp bonnett or rag.

I would never polish my tunnel again.. they corrode twice as fast and pit when they do..

Luckily the GT has a black tunnel and the paint holds up great

NOW I AM TICKED that i started polishing the tunnel. I am not touching it anymore. I hope I did not set it up for damage in the future.... :o|

Never seen that. I've polished the last three sleds I have owned and have never had increased corrosion. In fact I have noticed the complete opposite whereas my sled looks good at the end of the season it's my buddies non-polished sleds that look blotchy and corroded.
After the initial polish it only takes a quick and easy rebuff in the spring and it's done.
The only location that gets bad is where your boot heel rubs.

i agree with the last two statements, never had a corrosion problem what so ever. Actually its the opposite, the nonpolished parts corrode faster than the polished parts.

My brothers warrior started getting pits in the aluminum after trailering it in a uncovered trailer..

I figure if you get road salt on it, it will corrode.. I had to constantly wetsand and repolish it to make it look good..

Im sure most of you have covered trailers

Its just my experience.. DONT SHOOOT THE MESSANGER
