Hey all. Just out of curiousity, have you experienced or do you know of anyone who has broken a front w-arm on their Vector?
I was looking at some of the pics on Yamaha-Motor.com and it looks like they beefed-up the front w-arm from what the ProAction had.
Am I mistaken?

Mine looked fine on the trail when I passed it last winter.. LaLaLa No... No crack on mine.. just under 1,000 miles. MM.

nothin wrong with mine....3628mi logged-some of the canadian guys have the higher mileage sleds-

I don't have an RS model, but I am in agreement with LB and another member as to why they crack. In which case, the RS motors don't put out the same torque ratings as the Genesis motors do, so I could see the W-arms on the RS's lasting longer, even with questionably fabricated parts in that respect.

The reason I ask is because this past weekend I was at Heckle's Marine in Eagle River, WI. While I was there I looked at 2 sleds, one was a turbo RX Warrior and the other was an SX Venom. They werent market as to what year they were but they were both really clean sleds.
Anyway, I looked at the front w arms and to be honest with you, they looked kinda flimsy.
Last night I was looking at some old sled reviews on Maximum Sled and found some pics of the ProActive RA and ProAction CK skids. To me, the front w-arms look different from the sleds I saw this past weekend. For one, in the pics the w-arms were painted black, on the 2 sleds I looked at the arms were silver, almost looked like they were galvinized.
The arms in the pics I found online looked like they were a little bit beefier than the sleds I saw in person.
Im not all that concerned about it, but I thought I would ask just to satisfy my curiousity. Its nothing that would push me away from a Yamaha. Im not at all happy with the direction that Polaris and Doo are heading and Cat isnt even an option. I love these Yammie 4-strokes and if nothing else, the w-arm issue is merely something to keep an eye on.
Thank you everyone!

Captain, the Warrior and the Venom have a completely different suspension from the Vector they use the older Pro ACTION, the regular Vector and Nytro use Pro ACTIVE which is a torsion spring suspension which rides better and is much lighter 13lbs approx.

That is why they look different

It's possible that the Warrior had an aftermarket arm? To me they are, as you say, "flimsy" indeed.

Just over 8000km on mine and no problems.

Wow by the looks of the tunnel that must have been a mean #*$&@ bump! OUCH

yeah thats a dent...that reminds me of the one guy in slednecks jumpin the cabin and casin the jump...another OMFG situations

not a dent....its "kinked" on both sides....when the suspension bottomed out....the weight of the muffler caused the tunnel to kink.

well 12/30/05 went for a ride and come off a hill in the trails and landed right into another mogel, broke my w arm and blew my rear shock with sucks because im gonna have to cancel the order of my nytro seat.

I didn't realize that the ProActive Vector skid had issues with the pivot arm like the ProAction's W arm thing as it is a different design. Guess I'll have to take a look at mine. I also thought the three cylinder has a higher torque rating than the 4?
