any way to remove surface rust from body panel buttons?? pic

Is there any way to get the rust out of these so they look good or should I replace them. The guy I bought the sled from said it had been stored in a shed and covered up but there is alot of surface rust in spots. I keep my machines in my garage so if I could get this all cleaned up It will most likely stay that way...

WD-40 and a green scotch brite pad...and a lil elbow grease. I'd tell you to use a rust removing compound, like Naval Jelly, but I am not sure what affect that will have on the coating on the metal. You could try the naval jelly, but I would not leave it on too long (2-3 mins tops)

The rust is showing sighs of pits so any cleaning you do will come in time.Shane
