Anyone else feeling like there love of joy of snowmobiling is gettin back to basic's. I have gone from late 60's snoponey with ~12 hp through many sleds to a HTG hopped up 800 xcsp then to my beloved APEX.
When I was reading Bakemans post about snowmobilers I realized I am now less interested in being the fastest and really enjoy the sport for the basic's. Here is what it typed:
"I in now my "MIDDLE AGE" am falling back in love with snowmobiling for the right reason's, it is fun beautifull, it is a rush, I am with friends and family. "
Anyone else feeling this way and if so is it just that all the sleds are so good or that I or we are "middle aged".

I totally agree! I have been sledding now for atleast 22 years. Eight years ago I took a hiatis from snowmobiling for almost 6 years and I can't remeber why. I then decided to try it again along with my Wife. We bought two new Yami's a couple of years ago and after a few rides I just wanted to kick myself for ever getting out of a sport I now remember that I love.

Im glad you enjoyed that post. I thought that the Yamaha Sledtalk blog made a very valid point and one that needed to be shared.
Ive definetly fallen back in love with snowmobiling. The past few year I dabbled with ATVs, dirtbikes and motorcycles; but they just dont share the same pure, basic joy that snowmobiles do.
I used to be kind of obsessed with having a new sled, but now Im to the point where as long as the sled I have is running good and isnt nickle and diming me to death, why spend the money for something new?
Ive been keeping an eye out for a good used SXr, SX Viper or SX Venom to replace the '01 Polaris 600 EDGE X that Im currently riding, but I really have no plans to spend any more than $4,000 for a different sled.
Maybe Im just getting older and wiser, but I honestly couldnt care less whether or not I have the newest, fastest sled.

Im relatively new to snowmobiling. I purchased my first snowmobile last year. It was the apex mt why i don't really care about being the fastest or having the best I chose it because of my lack of knowledge and wanted something that was dependable and wouldn't require a lot of tuning , But it sure is nice to have the heaviest underpowered good for nothing 4 stroke that seems to be at the front of the pack almost every time
But the best thing about is getting together with friends enjoying the scenery and the conversations we all have, mix that with fresh snow and its price less

I'm only 28 and I a few years back I had taken a break from snomobiling too and dont remember why. I no longer care about being thefastest either......matter of fact Im trading my apex for a nytro xtx. During the summer I think about how much fun I had riding in the spring of the year when its 40degrees outside and your surronded by friends cooking some hot dogs out on the lake, telling stories and laughing all day. Nothing beats that!! Be safe!

After years of 4-strokes I picked up a piped Viper for messing around with. I fired her up tonight to let a buddy hear the pipes and got a rush when I smelled that 2-stroke smoke in the crisp cool air. I never thought I would say that again..........

Yes, I am kind of heading that way. My one buddy still keeps me on the edge though. But when I with my wife and other friends I just usually cruise. It's quite relaxing instead of being full tilt and using every bank in the trail to help make the corners...

Not falling back in love here. That would assume I fell out of love at some point - not true! 37 seasons for me this year, and still can't wait for the first ride of the season. Like a high school kid when it comes to this crap....

College and my profession as a 20 year career Marine Corps Officer/Naval Aviator, along with a multitude of collateral duties, and other business opportunities, took me away from the sport I have always loved. Thats life, and the path I had to take to get where I am now, back in the sport for a 5th season.
Some say I'm making up for lost time. Perhaps in a sense, however, I have always had a dream with a burning desire to live my passion and in some way take the sport to another level. After learning the RS Venture with Genesis 120 could provide 100% "bullet proof" reliability, while studying its maintenance profile, I decided to set off to do what I did last season.
Having fulfilled my dream, I now look forward to leisure riding with friends and family throughout the season, as well as promote our sport in several ways.
Touring at a comfortable speed and taking in the sights gives me all the exhilaration I need to fully appreciate the days ride.
Tonight the temperature is in the mid 20's, and the area has its second frost of the season.
Am I patiently counting down the days until the first ride of the season???
Oh yeah...

I think it gives many of us a break from the normal routne in life. When others are held up indoors, we head out to catch some beautiful winter scenery, some comraderie wth frends, and a few new memores.
Although I have always had sleds, I usually only had the cheapo beaters that wouldn't go too far from home. After getting my Apex in '06, i was exposed to a "sickness" that I don't forsee changng any time soon.
My only problem is not hitting the same spots every year, and getting out to try new destinations!!

I must chime in on this topic. Yes, I have fallen back in love with the sport! I have to admit , my Admiration was starting to dwindle for a while until my first ride on the Attack. In my elder years now, granted I am no relic but time has taken a bit of a toll, I have grown to enjoy the higher seating position with the rider forward design and the back and knee pain has disappeared. The crisp response and great handling, along with no smell of the 4-strokes, has just added to the experience. Now, I want to ride all day instead of ride a little bit then relax for a while.
Thank You Yamaha, for bringing my love and passion back to me!

For me, snowmobiling is a lifestyle. With our group of friends, we can't have a single conversation that doesn't include something to do with sledding. Our group gets together about 4-5 times throughout the summer just to talk about snowmobiling. In fact, we have exchanged about 75 emails in the last 2 days about stupid stuff we did this last year.....
