Hi, My wife has a 2014 Venture MP and really enjoys her sled. The other day we swapped sleds for a short while. I have a 2015 Viper with the heated seat. Well it didn't take long for her to figure out that having a warm butt is a nice option when desired. Soooo, my question is, Has anybody done this? One of my concerns is that her sled does not do a good job of heating the rear handwarmers. Would adding a heated seat take away even more power from the hand or thumb warmers? This would be a summer project if it even happens! Thanks!

Haven't seen or heard of it on our sled but like anything, it should be doable. It's not because of not enough power that the hand warmers don't heat enough, it's a design flaw. Although mine didn't originally come with them in the rear, I heard that they do suck. For the front warmers, that's an issue with the PWM control where it throttles down the power to the grips when you throttle down the engine. The longer you run at higher RPM, the warmer they will get. You could get RockMeister's Yamaheater which bypasses this control and send full 12V to the grips. Just costs a couple bills though.

If you add a warmer to the seat, if running all warmers, you might be taxing the stator to its limit. You would have to be disciplined in not using the rears. Another strategy would be to free up some watts by converting to HID headlights (35w each vs. 55w).

I am thinking of adding one to my MP by using an element I took out of a truck seat. My only concern is that it would not be thermally controlled and might overheat. I found this seat pad which actually goes on top of the seat. These seem similar to vehicle seat heaters and go under the seat cover.

Thanks for the response Mooseman. I have not found anything specific for the Venture either, but I told my wife I would at least look into it. It may not be worth the the potential expense and effort of adding it on. Besides, if she's nice to me..............I might let her warm up on my sled. lol As far as the rear hand warmers go, I will validate that they are worthless. I took sled for a good ride with rear warmers on, removed my gloves and felt no heat at all. I took it in to dealer and was told nothing was wrong. Soooo, worthless! Anyway, thanks Mooseman, I appreciate the effort you put into your posts.

I installed one of these on my Vector and Apex. My dad and Uncle felt my seat and I had to order two more for them to install on their ski doo's. They are just universal design. Pull the seat cover back, figure out where to lay the pad, run the wire out the bottom, plug in to the wiring you install.

As for the wiring install its really simple. I ran mine straight to the battery so I could turn it on while I'm sitting there drinking beer on a cold day. Otherwise install a relay so it turns off with the key.

Hi karlburns, I appreciate the link you provided. Have you had any issues with these heaters? Have you noticed any difference in your hand or thumb warmers from the power draw of this product? It looks like a doable project, just want to feel it is worth the expense and effort if I go for it.

I had one that didn't work but the company mailed me a replacement out. I know other forum members on here that have run them for several years with no problems. I chalk it up to just getting a lemon.

Hand or thumb warmers still work perfectly fine, I did however switch to HID's at the same time I put in the seat heater. I did put in 50w HID's though so its not like I gained a lot from the switch. I would recommend HID's too though if you don't have them. My dad asked what the hell my headlights were out hunting because he was riding in a shadow LOL

You can get a seat kit right from yamaha ...under the Viper accessories. ..just a pad that installs under the vinyl cover

Are you talking this one?

https://www.shopyamaha.com/product/details/heated-seat-kit?b=Snowmobile&d=3&f=2016|238&dealernumber=

or this one?

https://www.shopyamaha.com/product/details/atv-seat-heater-by-heat-demon?b=Search&dealernumber=

If its the first link I listed its considerably more expensive then the item I posted.

If its the second one yes it's cheaper but it also isn't a complete kit and is designed for atv's.

I've got no skin in the game just know that when I looked in to doing it going straight to the manufacture was the cheapest option.

Amazon has kits listed also for about 60 cdn ...for cars but any pad will work the output of heat will be the difference
