wow just noticed this on my sled also. cleaned sled 3 weeks ago after the Muni ride put it in the garage and yesterday noticed small oil spots under the sled. Have to check it out tomorrow, still need do my oil change anyways. Glad I saw this thread as I didn't remember reading it before.
DITTO!! X2theCATman said:There was another thread about oil in the bellypan, and I had posted there too, but in a nutshell here's what happened to me.
Changed oil myself, overfilled by about 1/2 pint, blew some of the excess out breather into airbox, noticed oil dripping off bellypan.
I have a fluid evacuator for changing oil in my PWC, so I just sucked out enough so it now reads between full & low (1/2 way on checkers) Never a problem since.
You'll need to take out the airbox & clean it good with Brak-Kleen or Carb cleaner, and hose down the front of the block too with cleaner.
No need for concern here guys, just an overfull crankcase & oiltank. Think about the volume of oil being pumped thru this engine at 8,000 RPMS and the crankcase pressures along with it. If there's an excess of oil it will get pushed out.
pretty common other leak happening too...
nice little crack in the area on bottom of tank...

Look closely at the base of the fitting. There is a hairline crack going at the base of the fitting and the tank.

sorry, could have pointed it out more...
not large, but plenty big enough to cause a problem, had oil coming out of it at the end of a large backcountry trip...lost about 1/2 Quart....

wonder if using some sort of rubber where the tank bolt mounts would reduce vibration, there for reduce the chance of getting any type of cracks on the oil tank?

kinda getting off subject here but i saw a guy at a race doing the radar run blow all of his oil out of his sled. Come to find out the old o-ring from his oil filter was still on there. Weird part is he said he changed his oil over a 1000 miles ago and it held up that long. i found that pretty interesting.
I haven't ridden lately but I took off all my panels including belly pan and definately have a leak in the oil pan coming from above the pan on the front of the motor looking at it you my be able to get at it by removing the A arms and the plastic that covers them. I am going to get a set of a arm bushing off Ulmer, they need replacing anyway hopefully I can get to the top bolts if not its going to be the dealers problem I have the 5 year warranty.

As stated earlier in this thread, you sure it's not just oil leaking out of the vent line that goes into your airbox and in turn leaking out of the airbox and down the front of the motor? Have you looked inside your airbox? When I took mine apart you could see exactly where the oil had dripped from that vent line. Have since lowered my oil level to about an 1/8th" to 1/4" below the "H" mark on the dipstick.
